What they said.

Oh yeah, please do another one…

#402

YES! For the love of god, do TWO paintings and kick all our asses TWICE as much in this challenge!! Haha haaaa!

Seriously, though… you know we all want to see more of your painting. This new concept sounds amazing! A little creepy… but amaaaazzzzzing!

Looking forward to your updates, Linda.

Cheers!

Really love the illustration, but was even more impressed by the theme. It’s fantastic to hear such a thorough thought process behind the work. The idea that it’s not really clear who is master and who is servant is fantastic… i kinda wish now i’d gone down a similar path a little on my own entry. I think what i like best is that both figures are both servants to something less tangible…fantastic!

I’ve been working on it, all over the place, for a while now. Finishing off the colours (they’ve nearly settled now) and then, insanely, starting on the spirit’s face. I’ve had insomnia, there was really little else to occupy myself with.

I’ve tried to take in as much advice as I’ve been able to - I can’t follow every single piece of it, unfortunately, not with opinions as varied as this but this is all very helpful even so :]

I think I’ve got the look in the spirit’s eyes down pat. I’m happy with how the mask is coming along and will mostly do texture work on the mask and more flowers for her, when I get back to this step - it’s really getting ahead of myself… but I must say that I waited with the face for MUCH longer than I normally do when I paint. It’s not uncommon for me to start out painting a face and then building an entire picture up around the features. Not so this time around, however. But, gee, I just noticed that I’ve done no work at all on her forehead, it looks horrid. Oh well. All in time.

I think I might start on my second concept tomorrow if I have the time. Let this one rest for a while because I want to think about exactly what I’ll be doing and where I’ll be taking it. Irony has it that the step before this one, I accidentally over-saved the original psd with a smaller version of it that I had shown a friend (NOT the first time I do this to a painting). So I had to enlarge, blur, and then paint over the darn thing. It made me a little pissy but I think I’ve fixed it now.

whaOUUUU!
impressive drawing, look like you copied a picture?
you already have your final idea , seems you know where you are going!

I just wanted to say, again, THANK YOU, everyone – for your support and for taking the time to comment and try to help me out. I really appreciate it.

Also, heheh, thanks everyone who commented on my avatar. I clung to my simple cartoon one for the longest while, because I really like keeping an avatar that has little, if anything, to do with my paintings (I never use cut-out parts of paintings, for instance, as my avatar). In my old forums, I had a photo of myself but that doesn’t seem right either. So now this, er, rather freaky self-portrait instead.

Hum te dum. It’s 2AM, maybe I should just go to bed now.

Absolutly gorgeous Linda, as always. I like the way the mask really looks oganic, fits the character wearing it very well.

The background also looks better with a little more green like his, softer on the eye i believe.

I fear i cannot add more again this time but eh… yes you should go and try to sleep now, especially if you had insomnia. And working on your new concept can only refresh your thoughts on this one later when you get back to it.

Aww… seeing you updating so much makes me want to paint too buti can’t, Photoshop won,t work on this computer, only Painter and i am not used to work with Painter… D: Ah well…

i’m impressed how your draw is so softly and smooth. keep the progress!

#411

Stunning, I love the floral details and colors on this.

I don’t have much to say but maybe as a rule of thumb from now on, you should go to the “Image” menu and select “Duplicate” before resizing your images to show your friends.

#412

Once again…Great work!!! Gooood luck!

#417

the painting is coming out beautifully, Linda  i love - LOVE - the flowers and bugs in Spirit’s hair, they’re gorgeous! i’m a detail freak and this is just a big party for my eyes.

as for the saved-the-smaller-painting part… hey, sometimes it’s better that way - maybe now you’ll be able to fix some little things and make the whole painting even better. you know what they say, everything happens for a reason… sometimes i like to stick to that one.

bumps around by random :bounce:

#418

this is really really beautyful… i love the atmosphere… wow…
keep up the good work!

#419

Wow I mean… WOOOW

It will be not only a masterpiece for this contest, but one of your best piece !!! Because you thought it as a whole since the beginning.

What a wonderfull job on the mask…

Can’t wait to see you refining each piece of the picture.

I think you don’t have to ask you many questions about who’s the master and the servant it is very clear as it is

it’s worth participating to this contest, just to see your illutration process haha
