This is phase one of my entry, a sketch of Yana. I see that almost everyone here is going for the fantasy approach, so I thought of going this path.
Hay man, i like the way you interpreted the theme but the thing that distracts it from an otherwise entertaining piece is the proportions on the girl. Maybe its intentional but if not then i suggest u fix it before u start painting, because the last thing you want is a small thing like proportion to hold your piece back.
Good luck
Thanks for taking time to view my piece. Her proportions are intentional – she is based on my independent comic book entitled : “Silent Destiny The King of Fon”.
Here’s the cover for that book:

Yes good sketch and good idea!
Perhaps that you should put the girl in position more relaxed… as lengthened… or another …but always with an authoritative attitude…
Good luck!
I love your lines! i think that the characters are very appealing and cant wait to see them colored!! I do have a couple crits. actually just one. I would get rid of the upper line thats defining her elbow and a large portion of the lower line and leave your self with just a dot or small stroke. because of you color it that way youll automatically think to restain your self inside the boundaries of those lines. this will make your elbow look like a ball. maybe even its own form. If you rid your self of that line then the arm will not only look like its extended it will help to ad youth. I love it though! dont see to much clean lines any more, not even from my self and im an ink guy! check you later!!
