Ok…I went a little further into the last concept I uploaded a few moments ago. I’m still not as content with the overall flow, but I’ll see what adding a little value to the drawing will do.
Greetings to all challengers, judges, and visitors,
I am a novice in the use of the digital medium when it comes to creating artwork. So this is a real challenge participating with so many experts and novices alike.
This is my first concept sketch for the Master/ Servant theme. I imagined many things that I could possibly illustrate, some very Lovecraftian in nature while others bordering on infantile subject matter. I finally settled on an idea that deals with the Aztec and Mayan culture. The sketch is very rough, created with Painter and a Wacom tablet.
This illustration depicts a female being taken to the Quetzalcoatl-like being at the top of the pyramid. There are three humans at the top: left and right are guards, center is the human form of the god. There is a hint or shadow of one guard walking up the steps. The young woman is being kept by two of the gods henchman, barely visible on the edges of the work area.
I am not certain what style of illustration I will settle on for this piece. I am very keen on anime and manga illustrations, but perhaps Ill follow a more photo-realistic approach. Only time will tell.
I had to start over. I didn’t feel that the first concept would do the idea justice, and I made the artwork present a scene rather than just a regular still image.
