MASH pivot issue - want to animate pre-fractured text (using maya2018)

Hi,

i have a pre fractured text with around 300-400 pieces.

right now when i use an offset node or transform all of the pieces scale or rotate together as a group.
how do i get them to rotate around their center pivot individually.

this is a slightly urgent requirement that i have to crack on monday. any help would be much appreciated.

You have to use the the distribute node in “initial state” If you can post the .ma

yes… thanks a lot… i did some searching on the net and this method worked.

sharing some problems i faced and the solution for others to refer if required.

  • fragmented the text in rayfire 3dsmax and brought it to maya as fbx
  • the fragments had values in transform and rotate from rayfire
  • after freezing transform and baking pivot i created mash network using initial state
  • the pieces still didnt match the position of the shatter.
  • i exported the pieces as obj from maya and reimported
  • now after freezing transform and then baking pivot it worked as expected.
