Marquee selection always oval?

My marquee selection is always on oval - must have pressed something,.,I try and press shift to toggle through buttons but no joy any tips?

Press Shift + M.

There The rectangle and oval tools are both in the same set, from the toolbar, left click and hold on any tool with a tiny black arrow on it’s lower right corner to reveal other tools in that set.

Thanks for the reply…I can toggle with the shift + M between oval and rectangle but my rectange is chamfered at the corners. I tried looking in the set…but to no avail. I have attached a pic…

Reduce the feather amount (in the options bar ) to Zero

The feather : blurs the edges by building a transition between the selection and its surrounding pixels.

Turn on your marquee select tool. Up on the top of the window, you will see an option with a number type in box called “Feather”. Set this back to 0 and you’ll get rid of the round corners.
