marquee select points

#1

Hi,

Most the time im work in orthographic with wireframe view, and if i drag the mouse button from outside the mesh, a rectangle marquee shows.

This marquee will select all points thats inside the marquee, even the points that are behind the object, which is what i need.

But how can i use the marquee to select points that are halfway in the mesh?
For example lets say I have a 2x2x2 cube. How do i bring up the marquee to select only the middle points? because if I click and drag, a point on the cube gets selected.

atm, im selecting the front point, then I rotate the view, and the select the point on the back. This method is quite hard to do on denser meshes.

Thanks

not sure if i understand your question, but maybe this will help. after you select your desired points with the marquee(including the unwanted ones)use the marquee again but hold the control key at the same time and this will deselect the unwanted ones. in most cases you should find this method works well. you can also select your center point of the area you want and press the + button till your points are all highlighted, and then use the control marquee to deselect unwanted ones. hope that answers or helps with what your trying to do.

Just in case you’re not aware:

If you want to select only hidden verts -

Press V for vert mode
Wireframe mode
Press and hold shift
Drag marquee around vert(s) - keep LMB pressed
Release Shift
Release LMB
