Making a Character Animation 3ds Max

#1

Hi, First time posting so forgive me if I mess up.

I Render and Model for a living (Arch and Mechanical stuff) and have gotten away with stills and flythroughs for 15 years.I never had to touch any character animation but am getting asked more and more to bring humans into the images.

I can create a biped, skin it , and make him walk where I want but I need to make them more interactive.

One example would be a man moving boxes from A to B then bends down then then stands up, turns around and moves off on a path to push something in (some sort of trolley) for example.

I can make each one of those poses but tying them together is driving me nuts.
I’m missing the terminology and workflow of what I am trying to create, I go into the curve editor and I get lost, messing around with biped is infuriating when you dont know where to go.

Can some kind soul let me know what the workflow and terminology is for creating this type of animated person, and a rough timescale for creation?

I’m looking to buy a book or invest in a tutorial that explains the 3ds max side of character rigging and movement for animation and I’m lost, I’m getting bits from all over the place but nothing that explains what I need to know.

Any recommendations for online courses or books to read would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance
