Make a modification just to one layer

#1

hi!

If I create a “Hue/Saturation…” Layer in the middle of my Layers List, the Hue/Saturation modification are applied to all Layers below.
How can I make it applicable just to one layer?

If I select the layer I want to edit and Image–Adjustements–>Hue/Saturation… I can obtein what I want, but I lose the ability to edit in future the parameters.

Thanks a lot.

select both layers, hold alt (or similar in mac) and click between those layers, when cursor changes to couple of overlapping circles. Adjustment layer then has small arrow in it indicating that it’s only having an effect to the layer right below it.

edit: added image (printscreen couldn’t capture mouse cursor, but anyway)

There’s also a checkbox when you create an adjustment layer that says “Use Previous Layer to Create Clipping Mask”. If you’re creating your adjustment layer directly above the layer you want to affect then checking that box will give it a mask that only affects that layer.
