Magnets and vectors

#1

Hi,

Just a note of thanks to PuzzledPaul for the update of the magnets commands on his site mentioned in the tutorials thread. I’ve spent the last day going over the vector and magnet explanations he gives and it’s had a very significant effect on my workflow. One note that I didn’t notice before–when selecting an edge as the axis for a vector, there’s a choice in the upper left of the viewer to toggle between using the edge or its normal.

Thanks again

JRH

Glad it’s been of some use

Should really thank skippy for the prod up the rear end tho’

Personally, I think Bj did an excellent job with his re-work on these 2 aspects of wings and whilst not to everyones liking, it doesn’t take too much effort to get used to the changes - imo.

Only my impression (so prob. totally wrong) but I get the idea that ppl still LMB on a single element (to define a vector / new origin) - and then ‘confirm’ this etc with a RMB…

… when a single RMB on the element selects/confirms/continues the op.

(I use the LMB -> + RMB route when doing screengrabs and want to capture the vector arrow)

Similarly, using RMB on the last element of a definition sequence - to sel/con/con - rather than all LMBs + RMB …

Anyway, you’re welcome

pp

(edge / normal toggle - yes, often forget about this  … being able to rotate this normal around the axis would also be quite sneaky )

Yeah,I love being able to just rmb on an element in secondary selection mode,
and just have it run right along…saved lots of clicks right there…
And with highlighted element as temp selection…
Man,I used to think Wings was fast, but now it’s just insane

Oh,and thanks to JRH!
I actually never noticed being able to change between edge/edge normal like that.
Good stuff to know
