magnet mode

how do you use magnet mode???

i cant seem to get that … circle thingy

Anything within the range of the circle thingy will be pushed/pulled once you turn Magnet mode ON. As a starting point (for experimentation) turn on Magetn mode with the ‘effectors’ circle touching another piece of geometry. Now move the effector and see how it pushes and pulls at the other geometry. It’s all a bit of trial and error to get it to work exactly as you want.

Hope that helps

If when you select a CP and hit magnet mode you simply can’t see the yellow circle with handles, it might be a refresh or video display problem. Make sure you have the latest A:M update and drivers for your video card.
Another thing you could try is go to the window menu and choose ‘reset settings’.

One time, I had left the magnet mode area of influence so large on my screen I couldn’t see it’s handles next time I selected it and assumed it wasn’t working. Conversely, although unlikely, it might be too small to notice

Pequod is right - sometimes the circle size gets set too small or too large to see. In that case, you can reset the interface to defaults in 11.1 and 12 (Help menu > Reset settings), and it should show up again.

I also find that I often have to select a CP first, then turn on Magnet mode to get the circle to show up.

…try to change you videomode unter options->global from openGL to directx or viseversa… that can help with such problems… in the end, it is most often better to work with opengl, but there are some issues which can be solved with direct x…
