Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Shane Kilduff

I don’t really have a story yet. So forgive if what you see dose not make much since, but the idea that I have will be one large creature that will not be able to get food for its self, its job is to sit there and lay eggs. The mosquito like creature that comes out of the eggs, there job is to go out and gather food.
Not sure if that’s a good idea or not, I am still very unsure what I think about this, My goal is to have a concept done by this Monday, then start modeling, (it my computer can handle this) but I may go with another idea that I have, errr

. What do some of you guys think? Should I just start over?

Hey, this is really good concept art. :buttrock:

Can’t wait to see more.

#14

Hey this is kick ass! I love your concept sketches… if you can pull that off modeling I’ll be very impressed! I’ll keep checking back to see your progress! Very, very nice!

#15

Thanks guys that really dose motivate me to keep working, I’ll post the last few pages of concepts tonight

#16

You have a very unque drawing style. Beautiful to look at…vry similar to Feng. Ace work mate! Im gonna stay subscribed here!

#17

Really cool and original concept!
About your choice to work in low poly, well its always a good idea to work in low poly at first ( build the general proportion…) and you also need to think about mesh deformation ( the good idea is to rig your creature ). there’s a real benefice in the end, you will identify mesh structure for good deformation, deals with UVs…
the polycount is good ( maybe a little bit high… depending on the relative size of you character ) .

Pyke, thanks for the complement, I think Feng is one of the best for sure. I do hope one day to get my hands on the feng videos, which are the only thing I am looking forward to getting, when I have the cash. but for now it all goes to rent :frowning:

Labuzz, ya your right about that, good idea, I wanted to just keep it low poly, it would help my “game demo reel” but to make this look really nice I should just add the extra ploys and go all the way with it. Hmmmm

.

Oh and Imscifi, if I am able to pull this off nicely in the modeling stage
. Ill be very impressed my self. lol if not I will just blame my crappy computer. i dont have z brush or anything cool like that. but I am sure that would help my model out alot,

#19

not saying nothing new, just that your work is awesome, and i just cant imagine the quality that the final entry is going to have, youre going to rock this challenge, and be one of the best for sure, well ill be waiting for every update of yours man:thumbsup:

Hey what’s up guys. My first day off in a long time and its such a nice day out, but since it looks like im falling behind with the modeling, I must stay indoors and get things done, this drawing I decided not to use but I will post it anyways, all right wish me luck, I’m off to modeling,

#21

Ok here is the first step to modeling this thing. I will wait a few more days to post my final concepts. With color and all, I just came up with a GREAT idea on the prepuce of this creature, but before I go off and say anything I want to get it all worked out on paper first then ill post them all at once, stay tuned. Oh sorry for not showing the scale of this thing, but in a few days I should have every thing worked out,

Thanks for the support from some of you guys, and I must say you guys are razing that bar very high…

#22

Nice sketches

#23

This is to just help out on scale, but basically this creature is just a power plant,

#24

Well sad to say I may have to drop out of the 3d contest and move over to the 2d one, my computer and time limit me to how much I can spend on 3d, I will be keeping the same them, (I hope that is ok with the rules) so from here on out I will just work on the 2d, thanks for the comments and hope to see all you in the 2d thread,

Oh and once I get a new computer I will finish this up in 3d, just not in time for this deadline.

Man if this where a real job I would be soooooo fired,

#27

here is the other link to my 2d challange, http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=136589

I will post up all the new art work in a few days
