Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Norman Rosenstech

#141

Different hue. More appropriate I think.
The lighting is slightly different too. Darker and more mysterious while keeping some key elements visible like the face and some flesh strips parts on the tail.

Some pillars are more visible too.

The next one will be my last entry.
A bigger format if possible. :wink:
Just need to add small (but useful) post effects after flattening the layers.

#142

Nice piece! I like the design and subdued color scheme.:thumbsup:

Cool man!

I like the mood very much!

A suggestion maybe!
I thing it is better if you get your character more closer to the camera!

Waiting you final piece!
It will rock that’s for sure!

:bounce:

#144

This is the final image 1024x706.
No big changes (blurred edges and shadows, slight amount of noise etc…).

#145

Very, very cinematic, teatrical feel to it!!!
Like it was a scene from a movie…
Job extremely well done, I like it very much!
:thumbsup: :drool:

#146

Mike,

sorry I saw your post after uploading the final piece.:wink:
Your suggestion is interesting.
In fact, I’ve asked myself the question many times about getting closer or not to the model.

But I think it will stay like that. :slight_smile:

Why ?

A little because of the final resolution, that is huge (even at 150dpi).
And mostly because when trying to get closer there was something wrong. The pile of skulls tended to loose its shape, and the composition looked too “tight”. I think the girl and flower needs many space around her to “breathe” in the environment.

She means nothing without her surrounding environment.
And I wanted an enormous and vast one.

But in a way you are right, this is why I tried to enlighten her and to isolate her from the background by other means than getting closer (lighting, placement in composition, attitude).

Anyway thanks for your very good crit ! :thumbsup:

Hi Norman,

I think you’re right with the composition…it’s really a big shot…Mike’s comment is right too because of practical things, but the mood and the environment is really a part of your scene and character. It was an excellent experience to follow your steps here. Something else: I really like your style as you communicate your thoughts by posting…and your constructive style.
Of course you have my vote mate!!
Best luck!!

Hi everyone !

@EmpY
You can’t imagine how much this is a compliment you just made to me !! (not sure my english is ok on this one :rolleyes: )
In fact I am mainly influenced by movies, series etc…
Though my initial formation is about Graphic Design, I self-taught 3d to get closer to the world of cinema. Thanks for your words !

@Tremoside
Aaaah…thank you for your words too. I’m glad you found my thread interesting, or even my words. I enjoyed sharing my thoughts during the (rather chaotic) process I must say…
You could easily win the medal of best coach of the contest !:smiley:

@Lonx
Thank you ! Dark and scary…man I love these words !:drool:

Thank you everyone for your great support !

Man, I dont think I’ve posted here yet and for that I am sorry… because this looks insane!!
Well done… everything in the image is just right. You have done a great job. YOur restrained use of colour shows a lot of patience.

It reminds me of the Zerg queen Kerrigan from starcraft… Oh how I love starcraft.

5 stars

@Cygnus_X
Having the support of another Sci-Fi fan means a lot to me !
You can’t imagine !
Thank you so much !

#154

excellent work, I love all the elements together bringing this final piece into totallity …

nice character design - quite similar to what I was going to do in the start - I’m glad I changed my idea.

i think a blue hue would have given it a more colder/evil/dark touch, awesome stuff none the less.

im a fan ;p
:bowdown:

#155

By the way, my picture doesn’t have any title.

I will call this one : “Domination”
For what it’s worth…:wink:

And for the story, well I’ll get this one short, just a few words :

“It is written that one should not venture in certain dark places…but in those places, sometimes, light turns out to be a treacherous ally as it may lead the thoughtless explorer to a ghastly fate…” :cool:

So be it !:wavey:
