Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Matthew Clinch
Machines are becoming smaller, so why not have tiny machines that can affect the body of a very much cellular level? Repairing, creating and even attacking specific cells within body tissue or in the bloodstream for a medical purpose.
Medical Cellular Nanomechs
Got some sketchs, but havent scanned them yet…

Bit more work.
currently very aware of the Matrix-esque feel (probably from the fields of pods!), but im hoping to steer it into a different direction, by making a sphere covered in these replecators which float around amost other cells in the bloodstream or areas containing fluid.

comments? please?
Very nice! I like the concept.
I understand what you mean by the matrix style.
But, I think you have enough to work with to take it in a
different direction.
Good luck! Can’t wait to see a model!

Wow very cool idea! I really like what you submitted so far, it’s a very strong looking design!
nice concept … looks o.k. as far as shape … does it just float along in the blood stream and then do it’s business??
That was the general idea initially, however im considering having a ‘site of destruction’ within a particular area of the body, where hundreds of these little ‘cell replicators’ floating around. Toward the background i was going to have a large emmense scaffolding of rebuilding machines places cells in one by one.
Now if i can just get my scanner working…

No textures to show modelling.
As you can probably tell, no lights in this scene yet. Wondering if i can get away with no lights at all. Have to see how it goes.
Your idea is good but you will need to create an enviroment to show the concept purpose. And don’t forget to supply some concept sketches…
Good luck

Looking good! Nice modelling on the framework. In my opinion i would have the cells a different colour, maybe green which would compliment the (i’m assuming) red background of the vein. This would excentuate the fact that they were machine made and not part of the natural cells structure.
Looking forward to updates, will be keeping an eye on this one.
Can u post up some wireframes too.
Guessing that u will need lighting for the final thing… but nice
Liquidswords
Cheers mate. Ill look into it. Definately think your right on the colour.
A little update idea of the blood vessel that will be the environment.

hmm… true… very matrix-esque
But then again, maybe this is a part of the matrix we haven’t seen?
the ‘character’ is supposed to semi-organic, semi-flesh while the matrix was PURE machine…
maybe something will turn up…
Hey.
Does anyone have any idea what other cells would be floating along in blood plasma? Major ones that is.
I’ve just had a quick search and found this picture which shows 3 other types of cell. Gonna try and model a few of these.
O.k, the red little donut lookin’ things are called ‘Red Blood Cells,’
the clear things that appear to make structure-like things that almost looks like thin skin (top left and bottom left and bottom right) are called ‘platlets’ they are small solid cells that are carried in liquid plasma that help blood clots (they stop wounds from continuing to bleed).
O.k., some of the colors are wonky so I would guess that those green things are suppose to be ‘white blood cells’ but that is not their color but their size.
As for the orange and purple stuff, I don’t really know.
Your blood can carry all kinds of shi-stuff from proteins to diseases. You need a biologist! Also, I’m sure you can find something about the blood online.
However, I hope I have helped you some.
Good Luck!
