Hi,

this is probably the first sketch in my life that I drew with pencil. because of this, I won’t go in to details here, just the rough idea, to see big picture.
I hope you can get something from that sketch…

I am a bit tired of all the typical gadgets and tubes style… although I won’t say I will escape from adding such details, anyway… here goes the story:
for a long time humans were trying to get the processing power of their brains and I think they have made it…
the idea is some symbiosis between the human brain and some kind of silicat crystals, that has ability to save the state of its unary cell and blah blah in order to make new generation of supercomputers with unimaginable processing power that today’s procesors can only dream of… One of the main advantages of such “processor” is that it can learn by itsef, so its processing power grows.
Apparently because of the purpose, such organism don’t need (and maybe it’s not beneficial for manufacturers) to move. There are many other issues like energy consumption and instability of the cristals so human body has to be integrated or merged to crystal structure. Moreover this way average lifespan of such organism is succesfully expanded to about 700 years. Maybe because of these things these intellectual slaves became so priceless…

Clear sketch and great concept ~

Started modeling from the head. This is only the start, later I will refine it. I think I will model whole model and then cut it out and add details. I don’t know, maybe this is bad strategy? Waiting for comments…

#5

probably like many of you I am hard-pressed for time, but trying to find some time to work on this cool challenge. Here is what I have got so far. Now I model generic pose to concentrate on body shape then I will pose it.
Started to like luminous eyes. This way he looks without personality.

#6

ande here is the wire. I try to use as less polygons as possible.

#7

Started to model crystals. Later I plan to merge them with human body. Tell me which one do you like most of all?

#8

kick a** (cause we don’t wan’t the kiddies to see two S’s  )

Those crystals are great. They look a little more like stalagmites cause they don’t seem to have a very hard edged, crystalline structure, but they are still very cool.

Did you make these in zbrush? If not, how?

As for favorites: top right and bottom left.

Thanks Goon! I thought nobody will answer me again
in fact I made these only in max, no any displacement, only parametricaly deriven geometry. A lot of modifiers like noise, tesselate, subdivide and so on.
I agree with you that they look more like stones. My favorites also are the same

#10

Finished modeling arms. Now will start merging it and will work on proportions

It was big pleasure to participate in this contest, but I’m afraid I have to give up. It’s about a month I haven’t worked on my model. Too much work to do at my job… Hope I will finish it someday. Anyway uploading some images of what I have done so far.
This one is my initial posed model.

#12

Working on hand details. First I set the pose, then had to remodel details of the skin.

#13

here is the final body. Tried to make him look interested or curious.

#14

I really like your last picture. It’s remind me W. Siudmak’s style, transposed in 3d. Very interesting.
You should continue to play with reality, deforming it more and more. I gonna come back see your progression. Congrats !

#15

This is a cool composition and the merging of the body and crystals is very nice! The bottom right corner are my favorite crystals but i guess this reply is too late, either way i think its looking good keep it up!

#17

Thanks guys for your support. Pity, but as I have said I don’t think I will be able to finish it till the deadline. I don’t have any time right now… Definitely I will finish it later on my spare time.
Thanks!
