After reading this entire thread, all 49 pages… I really miss that Red hair in the final image. After you return from your trip, might you throw it back on just to see how it looks? I think it made the lady look super-excelent in the concept 2d, and in the test 3d renders.

hello Antropus,

first of all i wish to congratulate you for one absolutely marvelous entry. i am awed by the way you’ve walked us through step 1 upto the final stages. i’m not an awesome modeler like yourself but there are a few things i would like to comment on, if you don’t mind… with all due respect.

1. mother machine looks too cold without the red hair. i feel that it is what gives her affinity with the giant baby. makes her look more humane than mecca. the contrast may look good on an extremely dark background but with what you have, i wish there was more of a flow between colors.

2. the background looks a little too separate from the characters (and a bit too yellow), and although you did quite a marvelous study on the weight and composition of the piece, the yellowness makes it look somewhat “choppy”.

hope this input was of an advantage to your piece. kudos.

I agree about the background. About the hair, even if I can find a good solution for it, in my concept (the contrasts) no hair/more cold is better. She is a machine and need to be cold, even if she looks like an human-sexy-robot-pregnant. But I need my “baby” alive and suffering. He need to looks more hot. The colors (red for the monster and grey-green for the mother-machine helps with this understanding).
The yellow is my choice for this work, trying to make a link with the old oil paintings and add more painting-like appeal. You can see options for the red in another works, a lot of green and black for the Matrix movie, purple for some another works, blue for lots of another ones. This is a particular choice and it’s ok if you don’t like it.

Hmmm,
I received an e-mail minutes ago from a guy that sent me links for another works in the challenge with some similar ideas of my work. I just want to be clear about the originality of the works. I really know that some ideas are common and comes from the unconscious, even without people see another references. That’s normal to see similar things that looks like another ones along the history of art… But… one thing I ask: pay attention in the dates of the first posts, the concept art for the challenge. I’m just trying to avoid questions about the lack of originality of my work and the similarities with another ones (like exposed brains in fat guys, two beings as part of the same body, one driven the another one etc). I will repeat, can be just coincidences coming from the unconscious, but I posted my concept BEFORE of all the similar ones that I saw in the links of this e-mail. You can check by yourselves. Is a shame, because I spend days working in my concept, trying to make something different to have, after 3 months, just another work, just “another monster” VERY similar with another ones that came AFTER of my concept
Surely my idea is not original. Maybe some another artist have a very similar idea even if I never saw it. But in this challenge, when I post my concept art, surely it was.

Just my thoughts.
