Really diggin on the froggy dude, perhaps it’s the angle (as indicated by the left foot) but the right foot looks a little short. How about making them just a touch longer (more like flippers) Just a thought. I’m sure you haven’t really got into the textures yet but I’d like to see some variation other than the continuous green you have going on now. I know you have plans.
Cool pose BTW.

Thanks guys. Might be the angle 3dExplorer? They are fairly long, I think the near foot’s toes are turned towards us. I will make them longer probably, thanks. Also he is getting metal traction implants so he wont be slipping around anymore in the swampy areas he hangs out in. I put the green in for fun, he will get some kind of texture later on. Not sure what yet something green no doubt. Froggy might go though a major overhaul, I havent decided yet.
I had this idea that my new characters should all be wearing a costume of sorts. Head masks, gloves, rubber feet, that sort of thing. You would see traces of pink flesh underneath. Play within the play. But I dont know if I will go through with it.
I am surprising myself by how good these models are compared to my previous efforts. Which isnt saying a lot, but still I am not sure I want to hold myself to these higher standards.

Ok new stuff to see: the operating table and the third character. comments anyone? I started out hating the new guy , I call him shoulders. But after a few revisions he is not bugging me as much. He will have metal shoulders and metal shorts. Other than that I am not sure what else will happen to him. I know its not a great angle but what do you guys think of the scale of the table in relation to the figures keeping in mind Igor/shoulders in extra big?
Wonderful progress soapy! Good characters and good layout. As for the scale, shoulders should be a bit taller IMO. As for the gurney, the length is good, but perhaps its a bit too wide. Are you going to add a neck support to it?
Keep it up! ![]()
This is looking great! I really like the shoulders-character.
I agree with Peter about the guerney being a bit too wide, though. Generally tables like these are very “thin” so the surgeon can get as close to the patient as possible. I like the style of it, but what about making it look more like an autopsy-table (http://www.hygeco.com/resource/products/highres/33316.jpg) with a sink in one end? Could look cool and could also add to the weirdness of the scene.

Thanks guys.
Yeah I thought maybe the table was too wide, I will make it thinner, I think it will be better for the scene too, bringing the surgeon a little closer to the camera. I might make the table a bit less high also.
My idea was originally an autopsy table but all the ones I saw on google were fancy fixed tables that didnt suit what I was doing. I wanted a table on wheels so I settled for a kind of metal science table type thing I saw. Plus I wanted a shelf for junk to sit on. I suppose I could put in a sink? or a drainhole.
Well I screwed that up and duoble posted so I might as well blather on about what I am doing in this post.
I have started on the fourth and probably final character for this image. He will be a guy who has no legs and sits in a six wheeled rover type vehicle. Once I put all the parts I have built into a scene I realized how much more work I have to still to do and I doubted I would build anything more, but I went ahead and have some mechanical parts together for his transporter chair.
It is funny I thought I would build a new rubber suit guy for this scene but once the modeling started the meshes were good enough to become naked bodies. Well naked toys anyway. For awhile I was entertaining thoughts of going away from the toys, that foolish idea has passed and it is back into the basement playroom.
I went out today and took photos for new rock textures today. So hopefully I will get some decent new rocks out of the deal too.
Oh and I have an idea for some background scenery type sets. I have always meant to do a toy house for billys toys so I am going to try and get something together for the background.

Ok I took your advice guys, thanks. I narrowed the table and added a sink. I am not sure a table on wheels would have a sink, but oh well. It will have a hose trailing from the plumbing and be leaking blood of course… Although I suppose one could have a mobile autopsy table with a hose and just run the hose down the drain.
Looking good, soapy! The guerney looks much better and the sink is a definite plus. I’ve seen an autopsy table with wheels so they do exist, and like you say, they have a hose going from the sink down to a drain.

Sure does look good soapy. Tell froggy to relax thow, his rigor mortis is a bit extreme. Did he die a happy man?
An idea would be to add a tray on weels for the tools. Also, one of those operating room lights that you can find here
Cheers & keep em coming!
Thanks guys. Haha, yeah Froggy does seem to have a bit of wood goin. I suppose he needs a bone in his bone. I think he will have a speedo on. Froggy is actually the only model to have bones at this point, he just isnt posed, those other guys are stiffs though. As for an implements tray, I thought the new rover guy would have an attachment for a tray. I will maybe post something by the weekend on the scooter boy, I am really bad at building mechanics and hard edge stuff. I am happy about the table, it is far better than I expected. I might fill the sink with body parts. The only drawback on the longer sink is that it stretches out the width of the scene. My plan was to follow the sketch if you can believe it. I guess I will need lots of background and foreground junk to fill the height. I probably won’t build lights Peter, because this is a toy image, and I doubt billy would have practical lights in his setups?
Thanks jdd, I hope you get time soon to work on your image.
I got to thinking about how the table fits into the scale and the toys on a floor theme that I always do and it occurred to me that maybe it is like one of those Franklin mint cast metal editions.
Get your own perfectly cast mini autopsy table in polished steel! Perfect for any coffee table… Or maybe it is a Jeff Koons mini stainless steel scuplture. Oh well plausibility can go out the window, I don’t care. I think I will add in a few lego blocks to re-enforce the scale issue. Blood covered of course.
Well I got the legos together, actually they are duplos. I was feeling lazy so it was a perfect task for tonight. Not perfect, the underside doesnt have all the details of a real block but close enough for my purposes.

nice idea soapy
…
… but you should rework the green guys loveunit (how you call it
) … looks a bit underdeveloped - like some kind of rudimentarily reproduction organ which hasn’t been used for many generations
ugh, it grows a lot when he gets excited…
Oh you mean the shape? heheh yeah I think I am going to give him a bathing suit so it wont be showing, but yes you are right it needs some detail.
Soapy whats up! - Im lovin that froggie creature - i guess ive got a bit of catching up to do ![]()
Thanks Ric. No need to worry, still lots of time left, over two months. Just hammer down and crank out some models. Have fun with it.
