Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Jim Heathcott

Sure does look good soapy. Tell froggy to relax thow, his rigor mortis is a bit extreme. Did he die a happy man?

An idea would be to add a tray on weels for the tools. Also, one of those operating room lights that you can find here

Cheers & keep em coming!

#72

Thanks guys. Haha, yeah Froggy does seem to have a bit of wood goin. I suppose he needs a bone in his bone. I think he will have a speedo on. Froggy is actually the only model to have bones at this point, he just isnt posed, those other guys are stiffs though. As for an implements tray, I thought the new rover guy would have an attachment for a tray. I will maybe post something by the weekend on the scooter boy, I am really bad at building mechanics and hard edge stuff. I am happy about the table, it is far better than I expected. I might fill the sink with body parts. The only drawback on the longer sink is that it stretches out the width of the scene. My plan was to follow the sketch if you can believe it. I guess I will need lots of background and foreground junk to fill the height. I probably won’t build lights Peter, because this is a toy image, and I doubt billy would have practical lights in his setups?

 heila that really good, wow…
congrats soapy

#74

Thanks jdd, I hope you get time soon to work on your image.

I got to thinking about how the table fits into the scale and the toys on a floor theme that I always do and it occurred to me that maybe it is like one of those Franklin mint cast metal editions.
Get your own perfectly cast mini autopsy table in polished steel! Perfect for any coffee table… Or maybe it is a Jeff Koons mini stainless steel scuplture. Oh well plausibility can go out the window, I don’t care. I think I will add in a few lego blocks to re-enforce the scale issue. Blood covered of course.

#75

Well I got the legos together, actually they are duplos. I was feeling lazy so it was a perfect task for tonight. Not perfect, the underside doesnt have all the details of a real block but close enough for my purposes.

#76

nice idea soapy  …
… but you should rework the green guys loveunit (how you call it :stuck_out_tongue: ) … looks a bit underdeveloped - like some kind of rudimentarily reproduction organ which hasn’t been used for many generations

#77

ugh, it grows a lot when he gets excited…

Oh you mean the shape? heheh yeah I think I am going to give him a bathing suit so it wont be showing, but yes you are right it needs some detail.

#78

Cool idea with the lego, soapy, it really reinforces the sense of toys.

#79

Soapy whats up! - Im lovin that froggie creature - i guess ive got a bit of catching up to do

#80

Thanks Ric. No need to worry, still lots of time left, over two months. Just hammer down and crank out some models. Have fun with it.

#81

haha excellent idea the lego bricks… !

#82

Well here are a couple early renders from the scooter guy model. I think I like the one on the right best. What do you guys think? comments, criticism? The guy will be attached from the waist and be whole from there up. To be added will be a waste collector bowl on the bottom and a battery cell or power source on the back of the unit. As well as other gizmos and gak. Ideas anyone?

#83

And the machines makes their entrance! Yep, I think I like the one on the right better. Are you going to add an antenna to the full figure? I’m guessing that this is a toy as well and it would be cool to indicate that in ā€œnormalā€ cases it is controlled by radio waves or something similar, much like the R/C cars or planes in the real world. Maybe even put the control unit somewhere in the background? Anyway, looking good! :applause:

#84

Thats a good idea Anders! Thanks. I hadnt thought of that, although I thought Shoulders would have an antenna on his helmet to be controlled by the Surgeon. As if the surgeon were directly contolling his brain waves. But I didnt think of it in the context of toys. I like it.

At the beginning I thought I would have the surgeon installing a battery into Froggy but I think that is a bit silly. I might have a couple Duracells rolling around the floor though. Who knows. The background is going to have some house parts and stuff. I am not exactly sure how it will play out, I have started building some panels. I will post later.

#85

Hey soapy… hehehe… love the humor value of you’re entry… you’re coming along really well man. im liken the scooter guy mechanism… cheers man rockon:thumbsup:

#86

Any updates lurking around the corner? I’m curious about what those weird toys are up to

#87

OK you wanted it…I had a crazy idea about a modular house set. Here is a look at the parts. I dont really like it all that much. I like the colonial parts but I am not all that keen on the industrial looking parts. They need work.

Other than that, all I have done is finished boning froggy and the surgeon.

Lately I just havn’t had much time to work on the project. And I sort of burned out a bit. I am a little worried about being able to finish in time with the quality I want. We are moving house in May and renovating, not to mention the job… Oh and I almost forgot, the NHL playoffs are on so I have to watch that.

#88

We’re waiting, soapy

I can’t see your last image posted… I will wait to see it…!!!

I am still alive! Just barely, I am still way too busy with work/home etc. But I will keep picking away the best I can and try and submit something by the end. Unfortunately I am losing anothe 5 days in early june. :frowning:

Anyway here is a look at an early attempt at getting some texture on the surgeon model. Operate naked!
