Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Ila Soleimani
Hi there Ila!
Congrats on your verry cool/nice Challenge entry (y)
I have a little questionā¦
I see in one of your previous image posts (the one with the layerstuff) that u have a z-buff channel in photoshop. I know u are using max. So am I and I cant seem to get that z-buffer exported or even saved as an extra channel. Tried the rla format, but photoshop cant open this (only wavefront rlaās). (Im a Brzail Rio user btw)
Thanks in advance!
Helllo good fellas,
Thanx for the nice treatments. \
CHRiTTeR : there are 3 known ways to me for exporting z-buffer data from max.
-
Save as RLA and import to After Effect or such an app, then extract the zbuffer there and save as an individual image. sometimes for me it doesnāt work for 4k res images or larger. (anyone?!)
-
Use maxā render pass option to save the zbuffer data right after the render. (but this is antialiased and not good for some sort of post effects such as DOF)
-
The easiest and fastest to get in PS (which is good just for some speedy jobs): set the output for RLA, after rendering, select the z-buffer channel in render buffer viewer and take an snapshot (print screen) then paste in PS! if it is bigger than your screen res, copy-paste in a few takes and stitch them in PS (now, a pain in a$$ though!).
COngratulations, it is a great job! Really funny!:bounce:
Your vision in 3D world is so cool⦠Really, very different. You deservs a premium!
Force man!
[ ps. I invite you to see and comment my job too ]

Yes, I thought about doing it that way too, but never tried it. How lazy can one be?
U say to do a screengrab? But if select the zbuffer channel, doesnt max save the selected channel when I press the savebutton? Or does it save the render?
I really appreciate your great answer btw (y)

Simply amazing!
For me itās the best and most original entry in the entire challenge, amazing concepts, characters and final image. I just wish I could vote one time for each one of your characters in the final image, this would be more fair since they all deserve one.
Congratulations for the amazing work, and I surely will keep tuned to see more coming from you.
Keep up the awesome work, and thanks for inspiring us all.
Cheers,
dg
