This is officially my first challenege, or W.I.P for that matter. Right now Im thinking of going with a female character who is pregnant, but she has a transparent abodmen/uterus fitted so we can see the fetus developing. She and the baby will have sewn over eyes with a mechanical ā€˜third eye’ implanted, and there would be technical procedures being performed on the baby in the uterus, maybe having its eyes removed at the time. Im thinkinking she might be a ā€˜surogate’ mother who takes the job in society of baring other peoples children.

I am not fully certain if I will go with this idea becuase I have one or two others.
I will post some concept drawing soon, but in the meantime I would love to hear your thoughts about the idea. Should I go with it?

Im also thinking about a strong male character who has been enhanced with coal driven mechanics. His role in society is to be a 'work horse’so the mechanics are purely to enhance his strength so he can pull heavy objects like tracters to plow fields etc… The mechanical elements would be very low-tech an would be reminicent of a 20’s steam engine.

sugestions are welcome…

Personally, I would rather see the coal driven mechanics of a
steam-powered man (or woman). I’m just prone to the rustic
imagery of gears and pullies, steam and smoke. It’s also not an
entirely common thing so see incorporated into a ā€œcyborgā€ type of
character. I’d be very interested in seeing how that would turn
out.

Good luck Spindle.
I luv the pregnant idea.

i think i saw the pregnant idea somewhere else :
still a cool idea

Thanks for the input guys. Here are some rough sketches, I dont think they are quite ā€˜concept art’ yet, Im still just at the very rough idea stage.

I haven’t drawn the lower half of the body yet. I just want to get a general idea first before I go into other details, just so I can decide if I like the idea or not.

These next ones are quick scetches Ive done of the pregnant woman idea. In the second pic she is not pregnant, in this one I was just playing with the look of the head. I havnt drawn one with more detail yet, but I will soon…

I guess the hardest thing is deciding upon an idea in the beginning :hmm:

Ive had other basic ideas; maybe some sort of creature who has been adapted to live under water? Another idea I’ve had a long time ago is a man with ropes/chains tied to his ribs, slowly tearing him apart. I suppose this might be a good time to work on that one, but at the moment I am more in the mood to work on a character who has the machinery as a part of him/her rather than something there just for the purposes of torture…

Oh Spindle go for the steam idea, its a million times more original and interesting than another female.

The second steam idea, this one:

… looks really interesting to me. I lov it. Go for that

i think I agree. Even though I truely love that first drawing of the pregnant girl.

Come on, update  hehe

shot Cullen, I like that idea to, but maybe I’ll leave that for a different challenge/personal work.

Come on, update hehe

:stuck_out_tongue: Ive come up with a concept wich is quite different to the 1st two, I’ll upload a pic when I get home today…

Seven, I hope you will like the new concept as much as the other one, if not I may go back to that one, but I’ll see…

RRrrr, deciding is so hard, I like the pregnant girl, except I dont feel there is enough mechanical elements in it. Maybe if she is all machine (olden day style) except for the fetus inside? I dont know, I just need to stop coming up with different ideas, and decide on one direction… :hmm:

ā€˜deciding is so hard’ - I couldnt agree more
