Good luck my friend! May the gnou des bois be with you! :scream:

Yoohoo !
So here’s the first concept sketch.

As you may have guess, this is a cow.
I’ve noticed that several persons already thought/think of doing a cow, I hope some won’t think I copy them. I thought of this the first day, I thought I had an original idea, well, it wasn’t that much original as the next day there already was some concept sketch of cow with lownmawer.
Ila’s cow seems to be on good way, but it looks like it’ll be a cartoon cow, so I think we won’t be doing the same thing.

Also I think I’ll tend to do something less like a cow, more like a degenerated lifeform based on a cow (the purpose of the thing is to harvest on it’s own (and produce heavy quantities of milk) as the “cow” wants to it, as part of what it harvets goes in its stomach), there should be more pipes and visible guts, I’d like it to look like something coming from the manga BLAME! (which I’m a big fan).
Also keep in mind this in not based on a regular cow. This is based on a genetically-modified-5-meters-high cow^^, and the blade at the front is a harvester blade.
The caterpillar tracks are not enough badass, or heavy (can’t find the right word

I’ll post again with the background story, technical details of “the real thing”, and of course some better sketches.

Yeah!! vas-y Falk, dechire tout!

Go ON!

#5

Yeah ! Dankeschön Friedric and Pietrix !

On va déchirer c’qu’on peut d’abord, pi on verra après^^.

So, here’s a bit of history/technical stuff, my english isn’t perfect, but is should be ok :

After mastering the welding of mechanical parts on bio organisms, the technology quickly developped.
If it was first used in the medical domain to replace amputated limbs, industry quickly saw profits in this technology.

The first tests of bio-mechanical cow were made on regular sized cows.
But their was a lot of problems. The cows either detroyed the lawnmower blade while moving the head, either destroyed themselves by trying to wash themselves.
Thanks to bio-mechanic supercomputers (another great achievement of this great technology), scientists quickly deduced that this amount of guts dripping on the labo’s walls wasn’t normal neither the wished result, and pneumatic jacks were quickly added around the cow’s neck to control and slow its movement.
Some more blade slashing on the ground led the scientists into adding tracks to the cow, giving them the ability to completly control the cow’s head’s height.
As those cows were designed to be used in large fields, this wouldn’t cuz’ much orientataion/rotation problems
Since those days, cows are equipped with 2 track units, which are equipped with jacks and an army of captors which detects the slight movements of the cow, allowing it to lie and rest if needed, althought units also are equipped with a “quota’s security system” which prevents the cow from resting if the dayly quota hasn’t already been reached.

The heavy cow is a “natural” development of this technology. The actual size is the best ratio between output and investment. Increasing the cow’s size would also increase the need of bio-energy of the bio-part of the cow as well as the electric energy needed by the mechanical-parts, while the milk production and harvesting output wouldn’t be that much significant.
So scientists are actually in a dead end, trying different way to improve bio-mechanical cow’s output, like improving the solidity of the cow’s udder, whih would allow them to create bigger udder.

Well, that’s all for now, I have more to say and story is fun but this is a CG challenge, so lets draw a bit more sketches.
And this story’s subject to change slightly if my design change^^, anyway hope you like it !

:buttrock:
i love the way you integrate the mechanics
in the body of the cow and suggest the
silhouette.
Very Interesting!
I stay tuned.

#7

Plop^^

Thanks Harnelbe^^.
I hope this new concept still suggests the cow’s silhouette enough.
Cuz’ I don’t want it to look exactly like a cow, but I don’t want to make a bio-metallic steack neither^^.

So, here’s “Moogly”, the first bio-mechanical degenerated cow that didn’t died after one week^^.
Her name is the contraction of “Mooo !” which is the cow’s call in english if I’m not mistaking, and “ugly” ^^ (No pun intented with disney’s story^^)
Also, you can see a lot of pneumatic jacks.
3 or 4 for the head, then 2 big to control the corn head height, and 2 really big on each side to control the body’s height.
The cow has a mask, althought it’s not clear on this sketch and the face is mess up (she’s not looking on her left, she’s got 4 eyes, 2 on each side, but I still have to decide if this will change or not, and how the eyes will look).
In fact most of her head is metalic, and the brain is concealed in an armored container.

The corn head is attached to the body under the head and on the side, like a dozer.
The track units and blade girders are too small as I think part of the corn harvested will pass through the girders to be treated in the track units.

The cow’s spine is metalic or the cow would bend under it’s own weight.

The horns are just thre to remind that it basically is a cow^^.

I don’t really know what’s the use of the cylinders on the belly, but it looks cool, maybe some sort of control and regulation system, maybe I’ll keep it, maybe not^^.

Mwahaha!
It’s starting to become clearer
Looks really bad-ass, scary… and huge!! What a cow!!! :scream:
Cheers!! :buttrock: :buttrock:

#9

Thats one mean looking cow!
Great idea, I like the second concept sketch a lot.

#10

Wow this concept really pulled in my attention, I am waiting to see some stuff from you.

#11

YEahhhh! I really like your explanation!! lol
(Oups… I need to go to eat so I try to be Short…! )

The design look very cool!!
Even if we have a lot of time to produce the picture, try not to spend your time on details…

I know you are able to produce an IMPRESSIVE Pic!! Just done It!!
Be carfull of the “cadrage”, And the realisation need probably a lot of time! (For you, TWO lot of time! … hu hu!!)

The first sketch are pretty promising… !!
Anyway, good design, nothing else to say about it…

RockOn Will !!! :buttrock: :buttrock:
3D post now!!!
