Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Gary Pate

#161

Yes… like Ravendsg… I prefer with some lights streaks… certainly better for the impression of speed…

And now, to see for a long time your picture… one thing disturb me a little.
Due to the large focal… the front part of the motorbike, at the left, seem to turn at right… It’s only a visual distortion, I know the motorbike perfectly in the good ligne… I hope you understand what I want to explain…
Maybe I’me the only one to see this effect, then, you have to not touch on it…
Anyway… your image is great man

#162

Turning out very nice gary,as I expected from way back…Give this that final magic touch,as I know you will and can.Another very fine reel piece for you for sure…Give it the final justice it deserves, good luck, and i’ll see you as we cross the finish together with a few of our other finishers here…:buttrock:

I still wasn’t happy with the lighting or the colour palette, so I went back and did another pass on everything. I’m pretty happy with the results.

Also added are proper glows. Only thing left is minor touchups in PS and tweaking the motion blur.

#164

After a long haul last night, I think I’m almost at the final image. Re did the lighting, changed some textures and rendered out separate passes for everything. God damn, these challenges are a lot of work…!!

I’m fairly happy with the results although there are a few things left to do…

  • add some more motion blur to the background and tweak the blur on the bikes

  • create bike refections in the track surface

  • maybe add motion trails if I have the time

  • touchups in PS

Tremoside: Thank you my friend =) I may add in some trails of some sort if I get time… only one more night on it and I have to spend my time wisely.

snarl: Ah, it was you who suggested it… thanks for that man!! It’s been stuck in my head ever since and finally I acted on it. Although its not the bright yellow of the original, I think it works a lot better now and sets off the yellow in the rest of the image nicely.

Ravendsg: I think I will need to add in some light reflecting from the surface of the track coming from the front wheel. I may just have to fake it though… not much time to re-render stuff. Thanks for your encouragement =)

Lemog: You have a good eye Mr Lemog  No you are not the only one to see it!! I have spotted that and fixed it I think… I really hated it too…lol. I think the rider is running a much better line now.

Virtuoso: Thanks so much for your support in all these challenges big fella =) Your always around with honest and supportive ideas. Adding the final touches can be the most frustrating but most crucial part to any piece… yes, it will be an exciting finish for us all I think.

Almost there… almost there…

#165

I like your design! Nice dynamic composition. Very nice.

My Machineflesh Entry

#166

It’s surely better now… the new ambient color too… I’m waiting now the last arrangements

#167

Wow, that looks really great, the only thing is, do you think everyone will be able to understand the guy inside it, or even notice him? Other than that, it looks awsome.

#168

Wow Yeah that looks great.

Very cool image.
Good Luck

#169

Well this is it… 3 months in the making.

Motion trail added, levels and colour adjusted and touchups done in photoshop.

Thank you everyone. I couldn’t have persisted if it wasn’t for the constant support and ideas contributed from all other entrants.

CG Challenge rules!

WOW I really like it. That’s the way I was seeing your final shoot in my head, perfectly done man. You can be really proud of that piece:thumbsup: Texture, modeling, lights, ambience, everything is there and well done. Good job Gary I really enjoy seeing the progression of your tread. I hope to see you again in an other contest mate.

But for now let’s  Cya :wavey:

#172

nice work… the details u add looks very well i love the motion trail u made!.. i know the important here is the character but u made an exellent work also inthe environment so everything looks great!.. wish u the best… i want one of those bikes for my birthday!:bounce:

#173

Hello chaps!

ParadiseFlyBird: Thanks mate for your support. It was great meeting you in this challenge!! Perhaps we can meet up sometime at AGDC for a drink or two. I hope everything goes well for you at Atari.

Cygnus_X: Thank you so much for your enthusiasm throughout this comp. You’ve always been around with suggestions and comments… it means a lot… I’m glad the shot came out the way it did. I too could see it in my head… getting it onto screen it the tricky part, aye?

rattlesnake: Yes, the bike and character are the main focus… but I wanted to create a powerful context for them to be believable. Now that I think about it, I dont mind so much that the rider has become de-personalised by the bike, infact it sort of hammers home that the machine is the dominant party.

Thanks guys… lots of hard work has been done by us all… now we need to focus on  !!

#174

Yeah:buttrock: , this ROCKS in every way!!!
I can feel the speed.
:applause:

#175

A top notch work for me… clean and perfect… terribkly professional… Congratulation… Now, I want to play with this game

#176

I looked again and have a few more words…

I really like your render, it is soft and gives
your image a painting kinda feel. In fact it
really looks like those concept art paintings
we all see around CG community.
Very interesting render style for me, and
great handling of mental ray. I would like
to hear in the future more on how did you
achieve this look!

again, CONGRATS!!!

:buttrock:

#177

oops forgot to inital it

#178

:bounce:  :bounce:

yeah !!!

#179

Hot diggity dam Ionized, here i thought you couldn’t top your previous renders but bugger me

bloody awesome mate really well done:applause:

could u render out another 1280 x 960?

really want that as a wall but the stretch makes it a bit pixelated and detracts from the image

#180

It’s wipeout Ps3 xbox 2 right?It’s not too original,but it’s your rendition,and a real nice one.A top ten for this guy.Good stuff.:buttrock:
