#1

Gary Pate has entered the Machineflesh 3D Challenge.

#2

Holy crap, so many entries already…!! Kinda scary…

Oh well, better get to work.

#3

Well here goes. Dont know if I’ll be able to make it to the end of this one with too much stuff on, but its a good place to start =)

Rigteo:

In the future, man and machine have evolved to the point where it is commonplace for people to implant themselves with devices that allow them to interface with various machines. Doctors for example jack straight into the nanites that course through their patients body. Writers and poets merely think of something and it is translated into words by AI constructs. As for 3d artists… well we wont go into those…

My concept is of a professional bike racer who has been interfaced directly with his vehicle via implants on his back, face and arms. Through these, he can control almost every aspect of the bikes systems. The vehicles onboard computer also interfaces directly with his nervous system and provides control over his blood pressure and heart rate aswell as giving him a direct neural link to the pit crew.

The rider and the bike are essentially one mind.

hi Ionized…good to see you’re in the challenge.
all i can say at the moment is sweet concept man …
and i cant wait to see more … if this turns out to be like some of you’re other work its going to rock… good luck in the challenge…

#5

@ Ionized …First of all…welcome (…damn another good one of them modelers!!!..feck!!!)

Second…about concept…and u say i am wackie:scream:

Cya man:bounce:

#6

Welcome to the contest !
Interesting concept
(what a lot of interesting concepts there…)
It’s a pity that you didn’t decide to
have a motorbike with wheels, the wheels
could have been surfaces for sensors
connected to the nervs of the pilot.
And if the eyes are connected to camera
or something else perhaps it could be a good idea to have a very different position
of the pilot.

#7

Really good concept, I like humanoïd-bikes a lot.

#8

Thanks guys for you feedback

Dimitri: You is the master of wackie entries. I wouldn’t dare steal that from ya =)

harnelbe: Good suggestions. Well it’s only a concpet so far and maybe I’ll incorporate some of those suggestion. I’ll just see where my modelling takes me I guess… good ideas though… keep em coming…

#9

hmmm…ok… time to update

this is the front section of the bike. There will be a lot of action going on here. Glows, heat haze, holograms… stuff that indicates the ammount of power this thing is putting out.

#10

good job so far  .
Maybe make a concept of what this futuristic bike will be performed in like a city or somewhere in the middle in knowhere on a dirt road or something. Also maybe show how people can jack into these things.
(p.s. - the movie eXistenZ has a lot of this kind of jacking into people stuff. rent it, its a good movie for this kind of thing your thinking of, it might give you a lot of inspiration)
Ive always liked your stuff so keep it up

#11

Beautifull and clean design…i like this already Ionized…i have to say that u are giving me ideas for something out from the challenge that i am working on…:lightbulb :lightbulb

I’ll be back!!! :bounce:

#12

grafi: Thanks man =) Yeah, I definately want to pull out the stops on the guy being jacked in to the bike. Along the spine, at the hands and the face most likely. Might concept up something real quick if I get the time.

Dimitri: Thanks bro. Yeah, I want to keep this clean and bright… and relatively painless to the person interfacing with it.

#13

And an update with some texture tests.

#14

Hey gary good to see ur entering :bounce:

very nice concept cant wait to see the rest…

#15

Hey ya everyone.

Another day, another update. Heaps more detail to be added to it, but right now I’m just trying to block in the forms. Atleast its starting to resmble a bike now.

Let me know what you think =)

Now I gotta figure out how the flesh is going to be integrated into this machine…hmmm…

#17

Alright, been thinking about the flesh component of the piece and came up with this sketch of the rider from the rear.

Exposed wetwear nodes interface straight into the cpu of the bike while his central nervous system becomes interlaced with the bikes electronics providing a two way method of communication between the bike and rider.

The riders day to day cybernetic arms can be removed to provide fibre obtic cable links to the steering and throttle management system.

#18

Nice sketches, good modeling, I’ll be watching this thread

#19

You are Nuts!!! …and i like the windShield shader very much!!!:bounce:

#20
