Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Derek Marsh

Hey James. I just did that. Didn’t think it would automatically post it here. So it’s up again. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeap, there ya go

Starting of my human character. This is my first ever attempt at a complete human body, so don’t be too harsh on me.

I need to soften some areas up and add some details to the legs and arms. I think this is not too bad for my first body attempt though.

Hi,

For a first human body, it’s a really good start.
Don’t you think that knees are al little too low?

… without feet it’s difficult to judge.

:wavey:

#14

Thanks DaVee.

If you look at my concept, there will be no feet anyway, so it may look like the knees are a little low. SHould look better once I add the bone clamps to the legs.

Thanks for the comment.

Good start it is.

Like you say, some softening needed (the sixpack in particular) and some other tweaks - but just hang in there and it will be great soon enough.

Make sure you get some good reference images - personally I find it almost impossible to get the correct proportions without reference.

Great to see you’ve started to churn out some mesh!

#16

Thanks JamesMK. Yeah, that six pack needs to besoftened out a lot.

I have some good references to model with, so no worries there. Just trying to bang away at this. Bodies are friggin difficult to model. Harder than I thought it would be.

True’dat! No bout a doubt it

Smoothed out the abs some and tweaked the leags and upper torso. Need to smooth out the arms and then start on the head.

hey, is going nice, wish u luck with the rest of modeling mate, for your first human complete youre doing really fine, dont give up with it, nice concept too, keep on the hard work man:thumbsup:

#20

You’re doing great so far, mate!

Just have another look at those knees though…

Upper body looks great.

#21

rattlesnake: Thanks! I appreciate it.

JamesMK: Yeah, the knees have been bugging me. I will get those sorted out soon. I have started the head model, so I will finish that off before I tweak the body anymore.

Updates later today. Hopefully.

Cool modeling already mate!

note: what about making the celiacs out of metal  !

Keep stuff coming!

Start of head modelling. Not much yet, but I figured I would show you all something to crit the hell out of.

Good start on the head!
I thinkthe chin is a bit slim but maybe that’s just me!

Keep us updated!

#25

mikepol |3D|: Thanks man. The chin may be a little slim, but that is easy to fix. Once I get the jawline done, I will tweak it out a bit.

Hmm… the only crits I could come up with are merely a matter of taste, so I wouldn’t listen to me myself even

Nice clean mesh, just go go go! :wip:

#27

JamesMK: LOL> I know what you mean. Sometimes after I model something, I look at it and say to myself, “man, that just doesn’t look like I thought it would…” Then I just stick with it and it all works out fine in the end.

This guy is somewhat stylized, for sure. But still fairly realistic at the same time, I hope. That’s what I like and it seems to be becoming a style of mine in the organic stuff.

Not sure if I will get an update today. On the road for work, so pobably no time.

Wow!
I’m late!
Nice work so far, can’t wait to see more!

(and I know what it means work+Blender+child+wife+life…)

Slight update. I hate modelling heads.

Widened the head some, so I think it doesn’t look so thin.

More to come.
