Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Charles Harangozo
looks good,
Whew I almost went with the exact same theme. Changed it at the last minute though.
Are the wheels energy or glass?
good luck
Thanks Claymation, I had a feeling that this idea would have been created by someone if not by me, but I just had to work on this challenge, and have fun with it. I feel I have a good story that goes along with this character, I will post more detail about
this piece along with new concept art.
As for the wheels they are a metal alloy, I’ll explain more with the next post.
I appolagize for the rough concept sketch.
I wish the best of luck for everyone else
Here is a summed up version of what is written below.
Years into the future, advancements in neurobiology have lead to the development of sophisticated prosthetics that are controlled by the brain itself, and with the decay of society hooked on gambling a new race called Blade Racer has been developed by a corporate firm that wants to capitalize on making money. Some indaviduals who are already amputees decide one day that they want fame and fortune. So to become a competitor they have to go to ARES Institute to have there normal prosthetic removed and a wheel based appendage applied to the leg,(wich is interchangeable to a leg appendage) considerable modifications are made to the Femer bone where the “Blade” is attached and electrodes are modified throught the leg that recive neural signals from the brain. All that is left to do is race and, try to get to the top.
More detail from here on.
Biotecnology / Neurobiology has been significantly improved over the past 64 years, and the latest generations of imaging devises such as fMRI, PET/SPECT, CT, EEG, MEG’s have given scientist information about the human body that has been sought after for meany years.
A Single neron recorded back in the 90’s is described as follows:
The neuron’s ability to fire is due to the presence of an electrical gradient across the neuron’s membrane. The intracellular charge of the neuron is typically -70 mV in its resting state compared to the surrounding extracellular matrix. Upon activation, sodium channels open in the membrane allowing ions to flow rapidly down their electro-chemical gradient toward a new steady state. This new state–depolarization–is reached when the intracellular charge reaches +50 mV with respect to the outside. This is an activated state, which does not last long because the ion channels quickly change their configuration again and the cell membrane returns to its chore of pumping positively charged ions outside the cell–repolarization.
The entire membrane does not depolarize at once. Rather, depolarization starts in one area and spreads by diffusion to adjoining regions. The entire process of depolarization and repolarization takes between 0.5 and 1.5 milliseconds.
In the past scientist had to use electordes within 100 micrometers to be able to gather and record neural activity, that is no longer the case with the use of advanced itercellular recording by the way of THDE ( True hybrid depth elecrodes) they can record all neuron activity by placeing the electrodes in specific pionts in the body within a half of a meter radius.
With all the information from Neurobiologist, a corporation know by the name of Minerva corp. has devepolped prosthetic limbs that incorperate the use of THDE’s and a microprocessor knowns as the neuralelectric converter (NC) wich can gather all neural activity from the surrounding tissue and filter out the appropriate singnals to drive the electrohydraulic switches inside the prosthetic, and the outcome is a fully functional appendage driven by the human brain.
Since that time other companies have cropped up creating there own versions, but one company took it to a whole new level, they were called ARES it stands for the Greek god of war, a money hungery corporation. One by one they bought out companies even Minerva corp. they also whent as far as to get into the gambling arena .
Society as a whole has degradaded over time with all the casinos in the citys being built, empowered by the goverment to “help boost the economy”, and increasing amount of reality TV shows promoting gambling has driven the public to massive gambling addictions. Therefore the creation of some unique gambling venues were on the rise, one such event is called, BLADE RACER all rights belong to ARES, they were the ones who created this event, they also created a unique appendage which consisted of a single wheel at the end of the neuralelectric prosthetic one for each leg just for this event.
Blade Racer has become the single most popular event ever and draws huge crowds, the event itself is free to attend but inorder to be at the arena you have to have all your bets placed for the duration of af all the races.
The competitors were all amputees from one reason or another and decited they would go to ARES Institute and undergo a new procedure to be outfited with blades. They were looking for fame and fotune, after all a successful Blade Racer is highly revered and adored by the public, they are concidered super heros. Now, Ares is kind enough to offer the procedure for free but after all is said and done they now own you, and you are encouraged to live life under there rules, they do reward you very well, however that is if your good enugh to survive the races, if your eliminated after the first season your obligated to refund the entire amount of the procedure wich is considerable. That is why the competition is so fierce among racers, and that is what brings the crowd.
C&C welcome.
Thanks AlexD, glad you mentioned about the detail in the leg, I was just working on that today.
As my concept submission are not a true reflection on the final,
I have been working on exposing more of the mechanics on the leg.
Updates coming soon.
HI digifexx_ch,
az eredeti neved alapjan Magyar szarmazasu vagy. erdekelne, hogy igy van-e.
your original name sounds like hungarian. probably you’re from hungary.
congratulations! your work is excellent, especially those lovely details.
crits: perhaps his arms are a bit short, but I can’t see it from this viewpoint.
your concept sketch is dynamic. I like it:bounce:
Nice modeling and detailing! I like the concept, Good backround. reminds me a bit of rollerball. Keep it up. :applause:
Koszonom szepen Tremoside,
Both my parents grew up in Budapest, Hungary. I my self grew up mostly in Canada, I still can speek hungarian a bit, but I must say I have to work at reading and writing hungarian.
Thanks for the comments:)
great going so far. I’ll be tracking your progress. What’s your plan for background scene’s etc?
its looking really great! The only c+c I can find is the armpit area is deforming a bit weird. there are some funny creases there. but that is a smaill crit, the model is awesome:thumbsup:

I wouldn’t have choosen this pose
but your model is very impressive
and muscles are verys realistics.
The pose i would have choosen i have
been the position of the ice blading
competitors when they bound there muscles at the start.
By the way your pose is impressive
perhap the eyes could be more opened.
Keep it up !
