Machineflesh 3D Challenge Entry: Anders Zakrisson
EDIT:
I’ll keep a small image here on what I’m currently working on.
So I’ve made a first very rough sketch of what I’ll do. Remeber that I’m not a 2D artist… Anyway, I’m thinking of creating a battlescene of a possible future where the bad guy will be the modded one. The only thing the sketch really shows is the overall placement and composition, I’ll do one in 3D to show proportions and perspective a little better.

What I’m after is a wounded soldier, attacking machineflesh mutant, crashed concrete and a blue/grey sky.
Anders
The first really basic and rough (and ugly) 3d mockup of the scene is finished. It’s really just to help me think and plan the scene (like the first sketch). I haven’t started with the characters yet so they are just bounding boxes…

So the thoughts for the mutant:
Cybernetic eyes
Breathing apparatus, permanently mounted
Nutrition inlets (since the mouth is blocked by the apparatus)
more to come…
Anders
I’ve started with the soldier, the torso and head is almost completed. I based the head on reference images of myself while the body is a blend of myself and a small statue I have in my window.
Not very much detail yet, but I don’t think that much will be needed since the model will wear combat fatigues and be kinda off focus.

Anders
The cyberbetic eye is (kinda…) finished. I’ve used a design with a lensprotecting mechanism and lens and the other stuff inside. Not very detailed but it won’t take up so much space on the final image so I think it’ll hold up. If it turns up that it don’t look good I’ll just see what I do…

Anders
Been working some more on the arms, they’re not photomatched or anything (neither are the legs or torso) so the proportions are wrong, but the basic shape and geometry is there.

Anders
The hand is close to being finished, I just need to line up the lower arm a little better. The truth is that the whole arm needs some serious work, I’ll take care of that next. I’ve also started to realize that two characters might be one to much considering that I haven’t made a 3d pic in 5 years or so, so I’m rethinking the concept a little bit to only include a single machine-enhanced soldier.
