hey there
great sketchie style i like the way you’ve given the frog a hypnotised eye.
my crit though is lack of back story, at least hint at it especially with this subject. Why has someone given this frog mechanical legs. Also answering this yourself will probably give you more authentic ideas.cheers

I really love the two concept, but the frog is clearly the winner : original, and more interesting than another cyber-warrior.
And, i love frogs, i must admit, especially with garlic and parsley (i’m french…)
You should make a frog equipped with weapons allowing to protect itself against frog eaters…
Good luck ! :buttrock:
Great drawing. I can imagine the storyline revolving around an excapee from a French Resturant, somewhere in a future near you
Good luck
Thanks for all the words of encouragement and valuable comments folks!
Three pics in this update. First one is the old concept art piece. I’m gonna use this pic as a testbed for my coloring attempts. I’ve done some rough coloring work just to see how the mechanical parts relate to the organic elements of the frog - not yet happy with it.
Second one is an updated concept pic - more details added to the jet engine cover and rear set of legs.
Third one is the same Frog in a more dynamic pose (caught mid-air after take off =)) not sure if it’s better than the static one since some details of the engine are not visible.
my crit though is lack of back story
Oddone - good point, I can’t disagree that it would be helpful to have a story for the character before it’s actually drawn but it’s quite possible that at this stage of development I’d be forced to shape the story according to the drawing not the other way round which is a bit pointless… The idea to draw a frog was pretty spontaneous - an alternative to human body was a body of an animal - the first thing that came to my mind was a jumping frog (actually it was a frog blasting off the ground and leaving a trail of somke behind since I already knew that it has to be a mechanically enhanced creature :)) and that’s about it.
Nevertheless I do have a simple background story already prepared and I guess I could use it when I start working on the environment.
Just a thought if the frog has these super cool high performance legs to help catch flies. Then cathing normal flies wouldn’t be very hard, so having some badass flies! might coo!
keep it up!
but the frog is clearly the winner : original, and more interesting than another cyber-warrior.
Agreeee! :applause:
looking forward to seeing coloring!!!:bounce:
Kurt B, Shafeek, Tommy Lee, adrixwha -> Thanks a bunch for the kind words guys!
Azazel -> Dziêki
Been pretty busy lately and had no time to prepare the lines, I’ll do it this weekend so stay tuned for minor updates
I guess I’m done working on the lines (I’ll probably introduce some minor changes to the image later). Up till now almost everything has been done in a traditional way - I used a thin brush to ink the pencil drawing. Now it’s time to add some colors.
Love the frog and the line art its mind blowing. And this is indeed one dynamic pose! Good luck!
I love your concept - very original. The detail you have going in the legs is awesome and totally believable. ![]()
Your latest linework looks like the frog has scaly crocadile skin. Is this intentional? I kinda liked the slick amphibian skin you had going in your earlier color test.
Thanks for all the comments guys
Evil Gerbil -> the crocodile skin effect is intentional indeed. I added the scales to make the shape of the frog a bit more visible and easier to understand. It’s quite possible though that I will keep it on a lower layer once I start the coloring process - the scales will still be there but they won’t be that aggressive.
