Here is the first colour variation.
Machineflesh 2D Challenge Entry: Mark Okon
Here are the last two variations, the final will be one of these two. What does everyone think? I am voting for the original orange variation.
Also I did try out several ideas that were mentioned by people, and I wasn’t too happy with the results, but thank you for suggesting them everyone.
Hope you like the final piece.
I have to say I’m leaning more towards the orange too…very nice…rich looking.:bounce:
i actually like the less saturated of the two… but i am also not good with warm colour. i like the second one more because it is not as intense as the first… which probably means it is not as evocotive (sp) as the first more saturated verson.
go with your gut
Both has their good sides. Desaturated version looks more natural. Saturated version gives nicer feeling… Maybe you should try to adjust something between them? The light youhave created there is pretty natural except there couldn’t be so much light on the metal “pipes” on the lower right corner same goes a little bit to upper right corner but it isn’t so big deal. Perharps you should try to flatten them a little bit. But other hand then you have to balance your picture again and that wouldn’t be too nice progress…
SNotblow, FLX, TeemuR: Thanks for the comments guys, I think I might still go with the Orange version. I still have to make my decision. TOnight I am going to upload my final piece, so I have a efw hours to decided still. AHhh… the pressure :surprised:
arg , well , hey great work , dude and yes the latter pic .
I think I’m gonna do something opposite with my pic but
here it looks like the saturated pic has too yellow air…
and yes the less saturated seems a bit more real …and
the birds and the area around them give a more peaceful feel
in the second pic … still I can see it’s not an easy choice
Ok, since I am such a typical Libra I had to settle for both variations. I litterly mixed the colour variations settings into one, making the final less saturated, then the orange, but more vibrant then the desaturated orange.
I also added a little bit of shadow hear and there and also added the “B5-1” letters onto the piping as a small detail, which I though was a little distracting but after a while I started to like it.
Anyway, I am uploading the high res version tomorrow so if there are any comments anyone would like to share, please go right ahead.
I would also like to thank anyone and everyone who gave me feedback and left me comments regarding my progress over the last 3 months, and I want to wish all the other contestants the best of luck with their entries. This challange by far has been the best that CG NETWORKS has done, and I can’t wait to see everyone’s entries.
Cheers!
Beautiful - it’s great to see such an original refreshing theme, too.
All the best!
Thank you for commenting on my entry first. Than, on YOUR one: isn’t it over-saturated? I liked the one before last one better. Also, you could increase contrast a bit “here and there” instead of increasing saturation… I think. Don’t throw tomatoes at me.
Again, it is too late to change a lot of things, but I think you could add some details like small white flowers to the tree with no pain.
Thanks for the comments guys!
sun_olya: THe colour variations were killing me because I liked a few of them, and even at this point I still like them, but I had to make a decision so I don’t want to go back and play around with colours anymore. I might try increasing brightness and contrast tonight and see how that looks but I have no time to try painting anymore into this piece. Thanks for the feedback!
Squibbit:
GOOD WORK! I REALLY like the environment you have set up…It reminds me of the rainforests in Australia and the damp air and clean comfortable feeling I got there. Fresh and alive. Your decision to mix the two colors for the horizon was a good one and I JUST LOVE the scene. Good Job! and Good luck in voting I almost typed and wrote good lick Lol… Anywho, I hope to see you around:thumbsup:
Shinwa: Thanks for the comments, I am glad you like how my final colour variation turned out. I wasn’t sure if I made the right decision, but eventuly I went with my gut feeling and ended up with this. I have never been in a rainforest, perhaps if the opportunity is offered I won’t turn it down
Thanks!
