#102

verrrrry cool

#103

The shadows and other things still need some fixing, so bare that in mind.

Here are three variations for the background, I like the second one, what do you guys think? Which background do you like?

#104

liking the second one

#105

Hey FLX What’s up!

I agree on the shadow contrast on the tree, I probably will darken it, I just don’t want to go overboard to a point where the tree is lossing emphasis.

I’m glad you like how this it turning out though FLX!

#106

 just keep going (doing tests i mean).

#107

GrEaT wOrK!!!:applause:

I prefer the high montains… like “Andes…”

well… I loved your solar color scheme!!! congratulations man!!!

Del pecado de mi pueblo comen, y en su maldad levantan su alma.

#108

I love the second one bud, youve gone leaps and bounds since i last saw your work. The second one has a sort of swampy haze thing going for it and the perspective of the view suits the positioning of the mountains you have in the background.

Its lookiong SWEET!! bud, congrats…

#109

Really looking great…

I really like the second of the 3 WIPs with misty mountains in the background…just enough detail to add depth without being overpowering

congratulations on the work…and good luck…it’s amazing to see everything come together…(sorry smilies not working on my G5…otherwise there would be lots here…

londero: Thanks for the comments

sketchfiend: I’m glad people like where I have gone to with this piece, it is also thanks to everyones comments that helped me along the way.

MrFreeman: It seems that everyone likes the second one as well, looks like I’m probably going to stick to it. Thanks for the comments MrFreemen:bounce:

#111

wow what a progress! I do prefer the big mountains I think (as you said it´s a irregular world) anyway it´s getting better and better, keep coming!!

cheers

#112

Very nice…i like the second one…it makes it more dreamy…it looks like a landscape for an ancient forest.

Avery different angle on it all.

Good luck

Paul

#113

Russo:

Paul Davidson: An ancient forest huh? Never though of that before, it could work too!:bounce:

#114

I touched up a few little things, and wanted to try out some colour variations. So what variation do you like best?

My favourite in order are 2, 4, 7.

P.S. Thank you so much for all the support thus far in this challenge, it is good to know that people really do support and respect each otehrs work!

#115

Here are the other four colour variations. These seem to be a little more experimental in my opinion.

#116

7 looks very good to me, although it’s hard to judge by those small thumbnails. I think the colors in 4 make the tree look a little too plain.

Much as i like what i see, especially the concept, your piece is lacking in details relative to the other entries. Of course that’s not bad, but I think one of the biggest appeals of machine-based concept art is the squirrelly little details all over the place.

For example, I wish there was more to that platform. My eye keeps wandering to that area, but there’s not much there to keep my gaze.

Also, do the machine components have to end at the roots of the tree? A few hints of mechanical components somewhere towards the top might make be more interesting. Or perhaps a metal vein/tunnel spiraling up the tree, like a maintanence tunnel.

#117

I like number 8 more…the colors are more tuned…I like very much your idea…well thought

#118

I like 2 and 7 the best.

On number 7 though the tree looks just a bit washed out. Can you enhance the green leaves a smidgen?

In number 2 the green really stands out against that yellow background.

If I had to choose right now I’d go with #2. But I think 7’s got some real possibilities. I like the reddish background better than the yellow in 2. But your tree loses something in there.

#119

4, 6 7,8

4, colour is closest to realism (my oppinion) works with a time of day very well (early morning)
6, the saturation of the tree doenst feel right to me, but the colour in the background seems to work with the theme (to me)
7, … i like the slight blue? maroon? hueing… cant explain it… it just feels cool… maybe not the feel of a ravaged earth, but one on the rebound… or at a new ballance
8 seems to be very real lighting wise. it is not as dynamic or over the top as some of the others, but i still like thin one alot

i am leaning toward 4, 6 or 8…

sue me, i am somewhat indecisive sometimes

#120

W.I.P: A little more detail wouldn’t hurt I guess. I myself would love to spend another month or so on this concept and really bring in the detail, but with work and several other projects being worked on obviously my time put to this project is limiting.

FLX, Siladar, techart: Thanks for the comments, I really needed some feedback on these variations.

At this point I am leaning towards, 2, 7, 6. That is the order.

Siladar: I am goign to try bringing out some of the green in the leaves for number 7. I agree with you and the others that 7 might be something to explore further.

I like the colours in number 6 also. They seem to be unified. At least on the monitor I am viewing them on.

Thanks once again everyone!
