Nice Jonny!
That last test is very promising. Especially if you were to add loads of babboons in the girders.
I think you should leave the evil guy out of the picture. Having two focuses may detract so much from the final image. To me just having that gang and her broken monkeys infront of her says it all. Then it is very probable that there is someone who works against her.

:wip: work, work, work.

Hi Mikael!!

I’ve been thinking along those lines too… It may just be too much to try and include him and detract from the girl who, although lacking any ‘machineflesh’, is supposed to be the actual focus of the composition.

I’m at my drawing board now… working on the final concept… and i think i’ll omit him and just have the baboons hidden amongst the girders.

It was always gonna be a story i’d continue working up after this competition, so i can do more with the Sultan later…

Still might change my mind though!!

So i reckon that it’s okay to go with a different size, as long as its fairly high resolution and somewhere near the specified dimensions…

Yup, the important thing is that it’s a nice big print resolution image

Hooray!!

Thanks Leigh…

Hi Mate, i’ve loved your stuff right from the beginning.

Great stuff…i like it a hell of a lot!

Thanks Paul!!

Believe me… i really want to get it finished!!

I’ve been struggling this weekend to get the final composition i want along with some more ‘machine’ parts. I figured that if this is in some post-climatic-catastrophe/post-apocalyptic world then she’d have to fix her monkeys with scrap and found things so i’ve been collecting images of old engines and car parts over the last couple of weeks. I’ve been trying to integrate themes from these images in my current drawings with mixed success. I’ve also been trying to make the circus functions a bit more apparent (give 'em all hats!! LOL!!). The sad looking chimp is gonna be the monkey cannon, with his monkey ball friend, for instance.

And i decided to include the baboon that killed the little monkey. He’s in a spot of bother with our orangutan friend…

But this is the current concept…

I’m gonna carry on with this until it’s all worked out then do a neater version for my Line ARt milestone. Hopefully that’ll be pretty soon… then i can take 2 or 3 days off work to get it coloured!!

Ho hum… enough typing… i’ve got shed loads of work to do!! Friday here we come!! aaaaAAaRGGGgHHHh!!!

#209

Here’s the final concept!! (pretty similar to the last one with a couple of tweaks… rotated by a few degrees… moved the cannon monkey… did soem quick and scruffy painting in photoshop to show the shape of the orangutan)

I’ve started drawing up my Line Art and should hopefully post that at some point tomorrow. It won’t be radically different… and may not even be that neat.

I’m still trying to decide whether to use the line art in the final piece or go for a completely painted image…

Although i do realise that you’re nearly finished because you’ve put a lot of hard work… this forum has been fantastic inspiration!! And the standard across this competition is mind-blowing… there’s some incredible artists out there!!!

i’m just hoping i’ve got enough time left to get where i want with this piece… so i can try and compete with you guys…

I’m just starting to feel a little bit stressed… don’t you just love deadlines???

#213

:hmm: …

Good luck in finishing, I really hope you find the time. THis is looking to be a great piece. I feel ya though. Im in the same boat. WOrk takes up so much time that now we’re down to the wire with most likely a week of sleepless nights getting this done in time.

I’m gonna do everything i can to get it done…

I’m sitting at work drawing ‘other stuff’ at the moment (ie. work stuff) and it is just so incredibly frustrating…

I’m gonna take at least a couple of days off this week so it will get done… honest…
