Machineflesh 2D Challenge Entry: Aaron La'Gere

#8

I have had to spend all my free time on other projects lately so it was kind of nice to set aside an hour and work on the contest entry.

I have been focusing this last part on defining the feeling of the head. I made a decision not to create the face until last because I believe with a face the viewer searches for emotion and feeling, and until I have the rest of the feeling in the image defined I could end up having to recreate the face.

I am having trouble deciding what to do with the arm, I don’t want to go overboard and miss the deadline for the final image but I want it to be cool.

#9

I decided I am going to try and squeeze in the extra time to make the arm more interesting. I also did some work on the neck area.

#10

I had to stay up a little later then I wanted to work on this, but I think it’s worth it.

I have defined the shape and feel of the arm, and some details. I think the meat in the arm is a good thing.

#11

The shapes and the style and all are really kool… but i dont really get it…:bounce:

#12

Your style is bloody awesome. It looks 3d but still looks 2d…just cool. Im guessing you’re using a Wacom and painting in Photoshop or Corel Painter.

#13

Nice job! the metalic surfaces are cool!

I really waiting for some colors… !

Hei dude, I invite you to see and comment my project, the TEMPLAR.

Keep the great job!

I use a logitech mouseman dual optic, no tablet. I use photoshop cs. If you look at teh edges you cna tell I make up for the lack of fluid lines by accessive smudging. Despite that I would say I have one of the smoothest mouse hands I’ve ever seen.

#15

Heres an update.

#16

oof Sorry for the horrible spelling and grammer before I was temporarily retarded.

#17

Just wanted to come show my support for your entry. I think this is looking dope  Your mouse skills still amaze me. Cant wait to see the finished image. Keep it up, Aaron. I look forward to seeing the updates.

GL in the contest.

#18

Thanks Kar0…It’s going pretty slow right now but I have motivation with that cintiq to hurry things up.

#19

I suppose it would be a good thing to have a lower half on the body.

#20

Hey dude, COOL metalic surfaces!

I visit your site, congratulations, very cool!!!

well,

I keep my eyes in your job!

Keep this good work!

#21

whoa nice pic there. I think you should hurry it along  challenge is ending soon.

#22

Yea I know, I just have so much other stuff to do it’s hard to fit time in.

#23

I think it’s about ready for the next step, I may have to go back and change a few things or add some but that isn’t a problem.

I’ve decided to wait until the final image to give the story behind the image.

#24

oO i think it looks much tighter with the added lower part. it’s looking real good. :] i knew you’d wait until the end to give us the story… building up the suspense aren’t ya? lol :stuck_out_tongue:

anyway, looking good.

#25

Well that plastic render could be very cool if you had details, at this stage it’s a bit blurry.

good luck

#26

Plastic Render? I’m not sure what you mean. The details are there but the image is extremely shrunk down, when I start working on the second layer of custom textures the original details will stand out in contrast.

#27

:hmm: perhaps bonestudio is thinking you used that plastic wrap filter thing that PS has ?? or maybe I’m wrong, and misunderstood what he was talking about.

anyway, your mouse airbrushing skills own. so, finish it already! lol.
