M:S and virtual memory

#1

Has anyone else found that M:S becomes a little ’ unstable ’ once you start to use virtual memory ? I’ve been using another Pc when away from home for working on my Coupe scene. This Pc only has 1gig of memory ( the scene uses 1.3-1.4gig ) and I’ve been having M:S crash occasionally after stopping a render in progress - it doesn’t crash when you stop the render, it does it while it’s reading / writing info to the pagefile so you can return to using the interface.

This issue’s not going to affect everybody, seeing as memory is getting cheaper all the time and 1gig isn’t even enough to run most games these days, but I was just curious to see if anyone else had experienced similar problems, or if it’s something else that’s at fault.

It seems this happens more frequently if you have cleaed a scene and loaded another, or reloaded the existing scene without closing / reopening M:S.

This has been my experience as well; I tend to re-start Messiah, rather than using the ‘clear scene’ option. It seems that the ‘clear scene’ options does give up all the memory is used for the scene before, could be wrong.
