Is there any LWO viewer?
thanks
You mean for someone who doesn’t have lightwave? I’m pretty sure the newest Wings has a .lwo importer.
Hmm, I’m pretty sure there was at least one in development a while back, let me see if I can find anything.
There’s a LW scene player (not LWO), but I don’t know how good it works. Someone just told me about this:

Try searching Flay for Viewer, you’ll find quite a few. The two that interested me were GeoBrowse v1.0 and 3DBrowser Light
And in the commercial realm, there’s Deep Exploration, which is a very sweet program. It will let you view files of nearly every type. 3D files can be viewed, rotated, and even rendered.

Yes I have this plugin :). But I would like to show my models for other peopples that don’t have any 3d program.

Oh yeah Deep Exploration is sweet, But don’t show me in sub-d mode and it’s very large program to my purpose. Anyway thanks for suggestion.
I’ll take a look on geobrowse and 3d browser. thanks guys
cheers
Would it be reasonable to freeze a copy of the object and export it (from Layout) as a VRML object? , then all the viewer needs is a VRML plugin for their broswer.
BcView is my favorite. It’s free, small and supports LW subpatches. It can’t show textures though.
But I would like to show my models for other peopples that don’t have any 3d program.
Another solution would be .fbx and FBX for Quicktime -> www.kaydara.com
i’d liek jsut a little preview window whiel opening files in lightwave - as my organisation is far from brilliant and frequently forget what i’ve called what
sorry for going abit off topic :hmm:
Another option (if you just want to show the model) is to create a Quicktime VR movie. The user will be able to rotate around the object to get a better look at it.
SimplyLightwave has a free tutorial on it:

I have one that is limited that my buddy made a few years ago…I will track try and track it down…shoot me an email in a week and I will look for it…I’m buried with work now…
You probably don’t remember, proton, but I e-mailed you a fair few months back asking for the latest build of it. I believe it was called “LWO-View”, and it converted the model to a stand alone .exe. When you ran the .exe, it launched a viewer that allowed you to rotate the model, and later versions of it allowed you the change the view from wireframe, flat shaded, and soft shaded (gouraud).
Then development (and availble links to the software) pretty much disappeared around the time you were employed by Newtek.
I had 3 different versions of it , but I don’t think it worked after I installed XP… and yes, it was limited in the sense that it didn’t display models in Sub-D’s, and it didn’t display textures (although that was supposed to be added in a future release.)
Unless proton has a later version, or he can’t find it… I’m pretty sure I still have all three versions on my PC at home and would be more than happy to host them; I’ll check as soon as I get home.
Edit: Hmm, things don’t look positive. I just messaged my brother and asked him to search the computer for “lwo” and tell me if it finds anything that aren’t models… It didn’t.
I think I probably deleted them after I couldn’t get them working, or perhaps after the realization that people would not feel comfortable downloading exe’s from strangers over the internet
I’ll still have a look when I get home, but it doesn’t look good.
Bad news… Unfortunately the versions I had have been deleted. It was so long ago, I don’t even remember deleting them.
