Low res smoothness

#1

Hello! I’m new here, this is the very first issue I couldn’t solve in 10 min of google search.
I retopologized my dragon’s wing, made the UVs, and here’s the first problem.

When I unwrap, it looks like this(first picture). The Third picture is an other part which is completely correct, this is what I’d like to achieve. What I noticed, is that I might have forgot to unsmooth the lowest resolution before subdividing and projecting from the high-res model. On the Second picture, it looks like the lowres model was smoothed, and I’m very sure this is the root of the issue.

Can I get some suggestions how I could fix this? Thank you very much in advance!

The first picture looks like a preview of smooth, which means it hasn’t officially been sub-divided. The way you can tell with this is by looking if you have any subdivision levels under geometry. By pressing the key “D” it goes under smooth preview mode. It doesn’t mean its smoothed down. It’s just showing you a preview of smooth version. It seems like that’s what youre running into. CTRL + D, gives you actual sub-division levels.
When you have official subdivision levels, you can work on a clone, copy and paste UV to the highRes.
If you dont have any subdivision, you can unwrap it as is.

In fact it had like 3 subdiv levels, and since it indeed looked like an undivided mesh, this was my problem, It made undesired projection with it, but I was able to fix it with duplicating, deleting all the subdivison levels and reprojecting it from the high res one. I must have subdivided with this preview smoothness, that’s why it acted weird.
