losing buttons behind the interface

#1

so I’m having a bit of trouble, I just bought softimage 2010 and I’m trying to use face robot. The problem is that when I go into face robot mode the UI pops up but the buttons I need to access are hidden down below the interface. Much in the same way the constraints menu is usually hidden when you have the transform menu open. the problem is I can’t for the life of me figure out how to either

a) pop out the face robot menu and resize it so that i can get to the damn buttons

or

b) edit my layout so that I can have access to the buttons

my monitor is set to the highest resolution it’ll go, so I can’t count on that to give me a bit of extra screen space.

anyone have any ideas?

I dont know what you can do about face robot interface but in standart xsi interface you can right click on the titles of the menus to collapse them so you can access the menus that are down below the screen

so far the only thing i’ve been able to do is actually set up another computer monitor with a higher resolution and use that to do the setup for face robot, it’s an annoying workaround but at least it’s better than nothing…

if anyone else has any ideas or comments it would be appreciated.

I’ve ran into the same issue on my laptop. As the screenres on the laptop is 1440*900, the height is nowhere near the default res for the FR interface.

There was a little trick though to make it bearable…
In 2010 you were able to open up the separate panels that make up the interface by going into the plugin manager and open the panels from there. In SP1 this seems not possible anymore.

Your monitor should at least support 1024 or higher to get away with the default FR interface. I normally run Softimage on my 24" HP, so screenres is not an issue here.

But hopefully they make it a bit more flexible in the future, it shouldn’t be a big deal as the FR interface is html based anyway.

edit: Found it!! After you enable the FR interface, open the plugin manager. Scroll down the list and open up the FR workgroup. Open the views folder, and open one of the views you need. Still not optimal, but bearable
