Lord of the Rings - movie based - Project

#1

Hi there!
I’m not new here but i didn’t post this Project here because of the similar project from the Collaborative Team Projects section ( Minas Tirith Project ).But now my thoughts have changed and here i am.

First of all i have to say that the only thing that we have in common with that Project is the Minas Tirith subject (NOT model).We have different goals and models.

With that out of our way we can move on.I should start by telling u that we are 2 guys working (me and b.oXe.r - on the forum) ,and that we are working for about 5 months,and i think we will be working for another year before we finish.

Next i’ll give u some detailes about this project:

These are the models we intend on recreating:

  • LOCATIONS :Minas Tirith, Isengard,Minas Morgul, Black Gates , Barad’ Dur, Helm’s Deep, Rivendell, Edoras;

  • CHARACTERS : Trolls , Nazgu’l , Mordor orcs , Uruk’hais , Wargs , Shelob , Ents , Mumakils, Gondorian Soldiers, Rohirrim Riders , Gandalf, Harradrim Worriors;

  • OTHER: Mordor siege tours, catapults, Grond, Corsaire ships, Battery Ram, Isengard Ladders, Ballista, Mordor Boats ;

This is our progress:

Minas Tirith scene: 70%

Isengard scene: 20%

Black Gates scene: 90%

Helm’s Deep scene: 70%

Minas Morgul scene: 40%

Grond: 95% (with the low poly Wolf Head version)

Siege Tour: 100%

Ladders: 100%

Mordor Catapults:90%

Corsaire Ships: 100%

Plans:

  1. Make flythroughs for every location

2)Make animations with the Minas Tirith Siege subject (own ideas…not from the film)

Project steps:

1)modeling:
-Locations
-Objects
-Characters
*low poly
*high poly

2)Making the test animation (without any fancy lights,textures/effects)

3)Texturing

4)Final Renderings

I think this is all for now,and i’ll let u see what i’m talking about here.I hope u like what u will see and will stay with us till the end (good or bad).

Well actually it’s preety simple if using the crowd option.We also have more than 150 animations for biped (walks,runs,deaths,other)and it’s all mixing.But we will have much more animations.So for now they are just scattered (and only the first lines are put by hand)and stoped at a certen frame(and they look as u see)…but when final animating it will be a bit complicated.

My, Ive seen some amazing stuff at CGtalk but this tops the lot, all I can say is…5stars.

Thnx!And to everybody else!We will be coming from time to time with updates .

Bye!
