#3

Hi sad,

I like your character sketch. Your first start is looking good.
It’s a heavy metal bot … what’s in this CD Player … Iced Earth?

To the arms: a large ball joint would be good to attach them to the body and some Cables.

#5

hi there… here is a enhanced pic:

@korn-art:
hmm i think he will bang his head to testament…screeeam:buttrock: :airguitar

#6

hmm i must say that my motivation is decreasing…i cannot follow my scetch. i love the scetch especially the side view…

any hints on how i can model closer to my drafts?
thanks for help!

#7

Hi sad,

You should first sketch some details for example some closeups of the arms, legs and head its very helpful during modeling.
A good idea of the shape is one of the hardest part in modeling.

#8

Get that rough image up in your modeling window. Either cut it up first in Photoshop for the various views or slap it in there the way it is.

Then, without worrying about clean geometry, quick-model a The shapes, doesn’t have to be nurbed, just for the shape. Once you’ve got a form you’re happy with from one view (the side) then push things in the other window. Slice 'em, whatever.
Tweak holding the ctl button, so they only slide on the one axis and make your volume up to snuff.

Then use this object in a background layer to model with regard to clean geometry.

#9

thank you dobermunk, i’ll try it but for now i’m ok with my progress. doesn’t fit the draft but it is going on. but…for i like the draft i will fight as long as necessary to create another moshpit-maniac model really following the idea.

well, here is another update:

#10

oh man, i’m so chaotic.
i startet all over again.

#11

next step

#12

i’m infected. i’m infected! waaah i really like modelling!
i’m so excited how practicing makes me becoming a better cg artist (?).

here we can see a part of the back-pack the moshpit-maniac (metal :buttrock: ) will carry around.

how would you improve the shoes? i do not like the military look of it. hmm.

#13

update! rendered in c4d-demo because c4d6 has no radiosity (will buy v8 very soon).

now coms the hand…oh nooo…

what’s up guys…do you like it?

#14

this contest is a real treasure! i’m learning every hour of modeling my character.
i’ve never been in bones and weighting before and as i’m doing it i see that it is relatively easy! i want to thank korn-art for his encouragement and help. :wavey:

so here is my first hand-model ever…needs some tweakin, yes. how must the thumb be attached to the hand? on the downside? hmmm. ?

#15

update of the hand…not that easy. little tweaking and i’m satisfied, for now. what do you tink?

#16

Hey its a great first hand model  and it fits to your style

#17

another update.

new head:

enhanced backpack:

i’m worrying about missing the challenge-topic and i’ve to admit that i missunderstood the announcement of it. would you agree that i should remove the existing head and createone that looks like me? please gimme some feedback on that…:hmm:

#18

The „problem“ is easily solved, if you put a monitor or TFT display in there. Use a BW pic of your face (tweak it in photoshop -liquify - to get a more exagerated/comic look) and use it as displacement map. Would make for a futuristic 3D display.

#19

Good work, your character concept is really good!

how about some facial gestures ??

keep it up!

#20

here is the concept of the base facial expression.

@pit: yes, that sounds good! i’ll try something like this.
@balazs: thank you! i’m working on a face.
