#1

Ok I am officially throwing in my gauntlet.
Wish me luck.

#2

Here is a preliminary model sheet…

#3

Looks great! Can’t wait to see some models.

#4

Here is another…

#5

Ok here is my progress as of

Personally I really like the first concept sketches. The face is awesome. I dig that shirt with the shoulderpads, and the pants look better than the shorts  But hey you know what you would wear best!

#7

I agree with Rye about the first concept. Good start!

#8

Thanks guys for the comments.
For this project I wantien to experiment with
soft body dynamics to the the clothing, so
hopefully after I am done doing the basic “naked” body,
doing different clothing should be “a snap”.

Anyway here is my update,
I just finished the basic structure of the boots.

Unitl later,

#10

There still work to be done on the foreams, legs and belly but I am getting there.

Here is the sketch that I used as reference for the “naked” body.

#11

lookin good.

Here is my update as of

#13

Ok here is the update on the face as of
Nov 14, 2002

Thanks to Wiro for a wonderfull face making tutorial.

#14

OK here is the latest as of
Nov 19 2002.

I have to finish the shirt, the belt and the shoes.
Also I want to detail the hands and the pants more.

#15

Ok here is my update as of Nov 20, 2002

I have detailed the hands and the pants.
Also I used Cloth Simulation to do the T shirt ,
took the lens off the glasses and
made the head bigger.

I still have to work on the forearms, the shoes, the pants
and the t- shirt.

Later guys

-Roberto

#16

Yeah I would definately fix those forearms- you’re lookin’ kind of like Popeye:D … j/k . Looking forward to seeing more!

#17

Here is the latest as of 11/21/2002

I worked of the cloth dynamics of the shirt,
the pants, the shoes. Also I built a new belt.

I still have to fix those darned foreamrs, and a slight
deformity on the hands. Also I want to further detail the pants and the shoes.

After that I will build the teeth and some basic expressions.

Until later,

-R

#18

Ok here is an update for Nov 26, 2002
After doing the rigging, morph targets and building an environment
I am finally getting there.

In the attached pic the lighting is a bit off and the cloth dynamics for the shirt have not been computed.

I have a bit of a problem with the composition, especially
with the GPS Hologram…

#19

Looking good so far man!

The shirt looks a bit strange, but as you said, the dynamics haven’t been computed for them yet… I’m sure it’ll look much better once they are.

As for the GPS hologram, the map it’s projecting doesn’t really look all that much like a topographic map… try finding one on the net and tracing it’s basic contours to help it look more reccognizable.

Also, to help it have that hologram look and feel to it, try placing a red light source at the GPS unit, and have emit a rectangular volume light at the picture, maybe add some noise into the projection map too. Make it look like the GPS hologram is coming from the unit.

I’m very interested in how you’re using dynamics for your clothes!
I’ve been meaning to experiment with it, but have’nt got around to it yet. Mind posting a short walk cycle after the challenge is over, so we can see the cloth move? Then maybe even a quick explanation on how you did it?

Keep it up man.
