Living Toons - character - mtmckinley

Hell yeah…he could go all the way…!! I love the work…really nice. Great progression from concept to now…

#122

I’ve started implementing him into my website some, if you’re interested. Just have the Splash page and Home page done. I’m going to put him in a couple more places too. Link’s in my sig.

#123

Just for fun.

#124

I like the big head mode:)

#125

How many polygons is your character? You should turn him into a model for Unreal 2k3. I would love to kill people looking like that.

#126

Little change… I’m still trying to mess with the lighting… Am I wrong to try to use global illumination?

:wavey: I think that u loose some of the feeling u want to give …just because of the use of GI…maybe u should try …now that u have the scene in the kitchen … a more traditional light aproach !!! I think u should start with the good old 3 light setup and move along…:wavey:

#127

Thanks, guys!

I’ll get back to you on the poly count, but I’m pretty sure it’s a little too much for a game application.

I’ll do that, Dimitris. Thanks for the tip.

Without smoothing, he’s about 5300 faces. Of course, many of these are quads or some with 5 sides, so if the game needed Tris, it’d be quite a bit more.

Small update… I’m fighting with lighting. :stuck_out_tongue:

suggestions are appreciated.

this is so cool! Hey congrats on getting the front page of cgchallenge  I think the red and blue plates bring way too much attention to themselves and detract form that awesome character model. You might want to change the color of that wall, for one it doesnt match the curtains and it also hurts my eyes (yes i have sensitive eyes, but still) Maybe make it a lighter shade of blue in the same family as the blue on his pants. And if the wall will be blue, maybe a nice white or beige color for the curtains

As for the lighting. Where is the light source coming from? The corner needs to be a lot darker as well. The walls shouldnt change color that drastically if they are both facing the light. How are you lighting it right now? Are you using omnis? Where are they located?

Looking great, wish my new computer was working (grumble grumble) cause Id keep going with mine, but right now im stuck. Bummer, anyway yours is very cool  good job!

Thanks, Rye. I was surprised myself to see my guy up there. I guess they rotate it every week or something, as now Owl-dude is on there (forgive me… the name slips my mind at this late hour). So, congrats to all 3 of us! lol

I’ll be sure to get back to you with more details as to how my lights are setup. Right now, I’m using an amni up above, a spot in front and a directional from the window…

I’ll be sure to fix those colors.

In the meantime, here’s a little fun thing:

heh heh

I’m planning on giving him lots of different outfits and stuff to randomly appear on my website… so one day he may be normal, the next he may be wearing a ninja suit! lol, I think it’d be fun.

Feel free to give me any ideas.

#131

I love it! Heheh
Dress 'm up!
Now give him a bra and some panties, some pink gloves and some lipstick!!! WOAHAHAHAHA that would look funny!
Great stuff!

#132

#133

#134

Thanks for the heads up, rye.

Here’s another costume.

#135

Ok, last little bit of fun… then back to the kitchen. lol

Happy Holidays!

#136

Rye, I’m using Maya 4.0.

#137

Sorry about the lack of updates. Thanksgiving week has gotten to me. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m working on it as I type this, though, so I hope to have something later tonight to show.
