Living Toons - Character- Hickory2.5

#1

Here we go again. I have a little more time so lets have some fun. I think I am going to start off with the toon version of one of my favorite items in the whole world. Usually if you are around me it is there as well.

Hickory2.5

#2

why does that bowl have two straws mummy?

#3

Those aren’t straws, they are arms…er…at least I think the arms are what you are talking about…er…anyway, I am really hoping to get alot done tonight. Its Friday, I ain’t got no job, and I ain’t got nowhere to go…only one thing left to do…

#4

Whats up Hickory

#5

What up Toby Wong…? Life treating you well?

#6

A quick shot of some progresss…going for the general shape…

#7

Not really pleased with this so far…Quickly my 2nd favorite thing to do is becoming my new favorite thing to do, because I am not pleased…but…I guess I should just be patient and start fresh tomorrow and see what happens…until them…3 lame views of my favorite object being poorly converted into a toon…

Look at the wee flimsy arms…Might as well start concepting me…

#8

Nice way to incorporate your hobby into the project!:stuck_out_tongue:

#9

Not bad  takin it easy, you know.

Nice entry btw. You going to make a crazy glass shader for yourself ?

see ya man,
-Toby

#10

hehe sorry bad joke
in my opinion the 3d is looking too uniform, you sketch had a nice distinct exaggeration to it, try to incorporate that

#11

! ! ! ! ! !

#12

I think I am going to use the base of what I have to start exagerating it a little more…

Tobywong- Well I would like to a really cool glass shader…you have provided mucho help in the past with a shader or 2 of mine…any suggestions?

#13

Here is some progress. I lost the tube type arms and adjusted where the arms will eventually be. Stretched and deformed the proportions and started to shape the eye area. I will post a real picture of the object when I get a chance, for now though, the update.

#14

Here is the actual picture of my favorite object. Its a 19" water pipe purchased in Berkley.

#15

Some mo…

#16

Working on Arms…Hands soon…

#17

Hands are done, going to post a simple render and then to bed…Anyone know if the public beta of Mental Ray renders Subdivision Surfaces in Maya?

I am alot happier with my progress today…

#18

nice looking hands.

#19

Looks good man. Reminds me of the candle character in Beauty and the Beast. ,…doh!

#20

mtmckinley- thanks they took a little bit to do…

smfjerset- I actually watched that movie before I started the challenge to kinda get ideas on how to make an object toonish. Lumiere was actually the character I studied most.

Well, another day, time to play.
