Hi Frinsklen!! … The Mafia saluts you!
With that name I though you were more… err… Frinsklen! Ahaha! you know…
… the monster… :hmm:
But you’re Guybrush!!
did you know that this name comes from when the game designers were doing the “sprites”, they called the hero: guy.brush
Brush was the extension of the file wich contented the image or the “pixel animation”.
And with the time the use that name… Guybrush!
More or less…
I really like your job with this character and I think you will add him (you) a lot of the personality because these draws are really funny and good movement!
Another excelent spanish work! Aaha! ![]()
I will follow your thread!
See you!
the pencil one looks pretty good, but its kind of disturbing the way hes hugging the pencil and all
, so i choose the piano it looks more cartoony - funny
GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH :bounce:
GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH :bounce:
GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH GUYBRUSH :bounce:
you rock!!! i love the pose from the last image!!¨
great sketches too!!
you have my vote ![]()
Thanks a lot guys!
Hey pabbloz! are you alive? you moved already?
One of these days you’re going to have to explain the “mafia” stuff…
and yes, I knew about the origins of guybrush’s name, I read about it somewhere a while ago.
With that name I though you were more… err… Frinsklen! Ahaha! you know… … the monster…
what?? I don’t get it…
· dies-irae and stipen: thanks! I’m glad you like it. (can you believe that some of my friends actually call me Guybrush Threepwood since this challenge?) :surprised
· Totitch: so you liked my sketches? well… teach me to color them in, you 2d master!
· Ila thanks, I’m afraid the pencil version has less votes…
Here’s a very WIP, for those who chose the piano version:
Ha that’s funny only thing i can poin is that face need’s more passion, more feeling other than that just
hey, very nice 3d model. I’m shocked how close it looks to the sketch. very nice!
I like how in the sketch his arm that is on the piano is one big bend kind of like homer simpsons. Perhaps you could encorporate that into your model to give it more of a cartoony gesture. But really nice.
PErhaps the piano can be less geometrical and more “toony” like in your drawing. just a thought
awesome work!!
Hi Guy!
The mafia’s stuff is a secret… I never could say you what nuclear weapons we have!
I’ve already moved… but dsl has not arrived to my home yet… holy Sh*t! :annoyed:
I forgot people is not so clever as me… so I’ll explain you the joke… Frinsklen… Fransklen… Frankesnt… Frankestein!
here starts the comment:
Very good!
The image with the piano is in the right way! keep working!
I like very much these “sixtine capel” hands
Just I would like a… euhh… elbows? (spanish: codos) more edged,… more like the joints in the fingers.
But,… GREAT WORK!
Waiting more!
YIIIIIIIIIIIHA!!
Hey Finsklen, you have mutations… (GuyBrush Treepwood, Frankestein, Cousin…
)
I like the WIP piano but I love more the hands of the scketch, you could keep that pose on the fingers… I love it.
OutTopic… ese Pabblozzzzzzz!!!
Great work Finsklen.
Hi and thanks!
I’ve found your suggestions very helpful and I’ve fixed the elbows (and knees) as pabbloz said, and I’ve given him a bit more expression in the face and I’ve modeled a more toony piano as Poju said.
The only problem I’ve found is that the pose of the hands in the last sketch is not easy to transfer to the 3d model as it looks, and doesn’t work well if I exaggerate the pose even more to try to match the sketch. Maybe I’ll try again later. Thanks again.
btw, I need suggestions for the background, post your creative ideas here…
better then?
Funky jazzbar?
Basement?
Kindergardens music class?
At beach surrounded by Baywatch chicks?
Big estrade with big orchestra?
I know you end up with something awesome
:buttrock:
OH NO NO NO NO! WHERE’S EXPRESSION (that was in drawing)?!..missed in 3d version, so bad. DO something please! :bounce: (or maybe it’s not finished yet?!)
Regards
Ila
Hello.
The end is near…
Virtuoso: I agree, most of the suggestions here have been great, and I’d like to thank everyone. I’ve taken most of them into account.
Poju: yes, I like your idea about the surreal stuff, but if you could give me a couple of ideas about how to make this look more surreal, it would be great (I’m working on the melting notes, but I just dont know where to put them)
wingman: man! how is it I didnt notice before!!! I’ve modeled a “mirror” version of a piano! Thanks, I think I would have never noticed by myself (and I’ve been playing the piano for 10 years or so… ).
I’m now working on the emotion as pearson, Ila and some others suggested. Any advice? I’ve trying to change the pose of the head, but I dont want to “hide” the face.
Transferring the scribbling and emotion from sketch to 3d is so hard…
better?

EDIT: so many posts are missing because of the cgtalk server problems. I just found this reply on my internet temp files, so here it is the latest update again. Fortunately, I also keep some of your latest comments so I’ll be able to answer them all.
Good luck with your missing posts and threads…
I think one note slide off piano one maybe on shoulder. Hang them on note line, you know stuff like that.
Burning giraffe would be nice:D
Keep up
well, here are some of your missing posts, and the anwers.

Hey man this is great! I know you probably dont want to hear this but personally, i really like the simplicity of the first one you posted with just the piano. It reminded me a little of schroeder (sp?) from peanuts. Now this new one is anything but bad, but it seems to me that all this crazy background takes away from the simplicity of your model, and your idea. Perhaps its the brown tones of the floor matching your character, he just gets lost in all of this, and that shouldnt happen cause its an incredible characiture. Also the color of that bench and those dots are really disctracting, my eyes are just going all over the place, I can’t dinf a real focal point. You’ve proably already thought of everything i said, I know this is just a rough idea for your background, you’ll come up with something cool! Maybe you could be playing your piano in the mos eisley cantina 2 days is PLENTY of time to model that!

very nice character, simple yet with alot of appeal.
I agree about the comments made about the BG. try to take away the tones/notes in the BG. and give the character a rimlight, or more contrast in the colors.
or maybe instead of taking away the BG, give it some blur(dof)
a rimlight around the character would be nice either way though.
nonetheless, one of the best characters in this challenge if you ask me, good job!
::::
I agree, the background is kind of confusing, so I’ve decided to give it a more blue, cold look, I think it looks better now. I’ve also removed some of the props to make it more clear, and I’ve increased the blur. I’ll see what I can do about the rimlight.

hehe changed the piano… i’m proud of myself i noticed the mistake the color of the seat is bad i like the notes in the air but the blured ground is looking strange and the idea of flying doesn’t look appealing to me. put him on the ground. i know that playing piano makes the player fly but on the picture it doesn’t affect the listener… well i hope you know what i mean. anyways i hope you win cause piano rules
keep it up
wingman
ps. i’m just learning rachmaninoff’s cis-minor prelude. really kickss ass
::::
I know what you mean, but if I put him on the ground I would have to come up woth another background… there’s no time.
ps. Funny you’re learning that one, cause I’m just learning Rachmaninoff’s prelude in g minor…

I would echo the background issue but I think if you subdue it a bit it won’t get in the way. I was thinking the Peanuts route too. Could make a Lucy type character to put leaning on the piano listening intently.
Haha, I don’t think I have the time to model a “Lucy tyype character”, I like the idea, though.
::::
Poju: since I’ve decided to remove some of the props, I think I wont use your idea of the melting notes. Thanks anyway.
