Limit scale in other axis ?

#1

Hey folks, my entelijens is not quite as better as what you all has got.
I can’t seem to understand constraints and the way that they work.
I tried to use a chain of bones with ‘Aim-at’ constraints with ‘Scale to reach’ set to ‘ON’ .
I would like to limit their movement in the ‘X’ axis.
In the old manual, it states that while dragging the end of a chain, hold down the <alt> key to stop the movement in other axis.
I’m doing that and nothing changes.
What am I doing wrong ?

Also is it possible to limit the scale by a certain percentage ?
( crosses fingers )

Thanks in advance !

You could use expressions to do this, or translate limits or spherical constraints…
but to give you a specific solution, we would need specific description of what you are doing… at least I would cause I’m not sure what your trying to do…

but for limit in the x axis… translate limits + and - x values at 0.
scale to reach will scale to whatever it is reaching for, you could use a scale like constriant for that or like I menitoned put an expression in the scale property.

You lost me.

Remind me what an expression is again.:hmm:

IOW, So I can limit the motion of a bone in a certain axis by using an expression, a translate limit or spherical constraint ?

Hmm.

Im trying to cheat, and create a simple ( ‘half ass’ ) method of pulling my models lips into a pucker shape.
( I would then massage the CPs into a decent looking expression.
BTW, I try and just use the magnet tool to pull the CPs around, but the falloff on the tool has dropped to zero somehow…and some CPs in the circle of influence are not even being moved at all. Any ideas on adjusting the falloff on the Magnet tool ? )

Maybe I should just pose her with the blank stare expression she has now and call her finished.

Any idea when Hash will have a clumping feature to the hair ? It is driving me insane !!!
I have created around six different versions of my models ‘wig’, but have problems with each one.

Thanks !

Vegan, what version are you using? Mainly about the hair thing, you should have all sorts of control with v11 and on.
And yeah you can use all that stuff to control what your bones do.
An expression is a mathmatical statement that feeds values to the property that they are in.
