Hi,I’m thinking of buying animate to go along with lightwave. It looks like MA rigging and animation tools are better and would like to rig and animate in MA then import character with rig and motion into lightwave for scene,I guess that is my question ,can you rig and animate in MA then bring all this into lightwave or do you need a character also rigged in lightwave and bring only the motion into lightwave.
Lightwave Import
You model in LW the usual way. No need to use weights or bones or skelegons or anything.
You texture your model in LW as usually.
You rig/animate in Messiah and you render in LW.
I highly recommend Mark Wilson’s Point Oven

It will make your life a lot easier.
Also, something worth mentioning
Messiah bones are so inteligent that weights arent needed.
You can see from messiah tutorials.
Rigging and Animating in messiah with instant feedback, a superb expressions engine, …
truly is fun.

So effective.
Compatible with LightWave, Maya, 3DS Max, Cinema4D…
I would love that the market “goes” Messiah !
Yeah…My experience of Messiah Animate is very good. It is sooooo far ahead of LW in terms of character animation/rigging. And the expressions are soooooo simple to use. I never use them in LW…I never have a rig without them in Messiah. And yes, the bone are super fast and super intelligent.
My only wish is that development/bug fixes where a little faster. With a small coding team I can’t help but feel (don’t shoot me here anyone!) that they should have stuck with just animation…all their efforts in one area. The time they spend making the renderer better could be spent making the animate part mind-blowing and IMO an industry standard.

Personally I find messiah as the ultimate animation tool.
Now, it provides more than the most demanding needs, with the exception of particles, dynamics etc
The animation chapter is almost covered. the CG industry is something non-static.
So I cant imagine pmG sitting idle.
