Does anyone else find it ironic (or sad) that we’re getting this information second hand; under a thread titled “LIGHTWAVE”?
As far as being supportive of EI, well, I’m not an architect, so it’s the other way around. EI has to do lots and lots to support ME before they’ll be back in my good graces. Tomas and the Igors have a lot of customer service ground to make up. If they can pull that off then my interest in the software will resume and they’ll also be able to gain new users.
Currently I’m leaning towards Lightwave Core. Not to disrespect EIAS, but while management was quibbling over who had the best strategy and development plan, arguing over who owned what rights, the Newtek people decided that to future proof their software they had to start from a blank page and write something new. This is the approach that, maybe, EIM will be able to explore.
As for Tomas and the Igor’s vision for Animator, time will tell. Some years ago when Brad took over the company we were lead to believe he had a bold new vision. Unfortunately that vision seemed to be dropping Animator like a hot rock. Harsh, I know, but then it’s been a huge amount of time during which we users were left twisting in the wind. A software is more than just dollars spent. It’s also time for the learning curve, confidence that you made the right choice (or fear that you’ve made a wrong choice), and a feeling, however slight, that your investment is future proofed by having gotten involved with a growing, developing tool that will help you accomplish your tasks.
Now again if you’re an architect, then EI is a pretty slick tool. If you’re not - well, buyer beware.
