I have a couple I’m trying out. One is much lower key than the other. I’m using Maya and Mental Ray.

It’s funny because I almost didn’t want to do this challenge, then I really got into it and it’s my favorite one yet (out of the three that I’ve done now). :slight_smile:

@destinylight - really nice looks dude!!! bloom effect is looking good ! is this maya software render !; but the thing i notice that the liquid in the right corner bottle should have some sort of bleeding even other two bottle also ! ALL The Best!

So I know I am a little late on this, but I would really like to light this scene. before I do start I would like your input, to where to start first. I also want to stay away from FG,GI, and other advance features of Maya Mental Ray.

Any thoughts on the starting point?

@pendragonz: I like very much the ambient you have done, my critique would be about the inside of the shelf, is pretty similar to the wall. Good work!

@Destinylight: love the way you did the light and texture, about working with a single tone, the wood is very nice.

@Inky99: awsome, the glass are incredible, I´d try to give less visibility to the background. I think it´s distrating.

@coolibu: I like your camera, try to make more evident the silhoete.

Hello world,

Ok so this is my first time posting one of my projects after having done a couple in the past.

I decided to work with this project in Houdini instead of using Maya again to further develop my skills. The scene had a decent collection of material and objects types to try and bring together. I used one shader I developed to handle all the surfaces, it’s available on odforce if you guys want. Sadly, my home computer is kind of slow(1 core) so I’m not sure how much progress I will be able to show next, but I would love some critiques.

Caustics is the one thing I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to run, but if that is the biggest problem, I can do some old fashion cheating. Hearing about light levels/colors, object colors, glass blur, attenuation depths, small texture details, would be great to hear about. I’m out of the lab so I don’t get much feedback anymore. So any and all would be great.

Hello everyone,
This is the first time I am entering any sort of online challenge. I am relatively new to lighting.
Looking forward to your views, critics and suggestions.
Here is my WIP.
Still work to be done - Materials for tools on the table,material and texture for the brain, front portion of the table etc.
Thinking of adding something on the wall behind the table.
