Hi. I know how to animate the intensity of a light in the choreography but I need to animate the intensity of a light which is inside a model (like a bone). I have a flashlight and I want to switch it on and off. Does anyone know how to do that? Is it possible to animate that with a poseslider?
Light intensity
Presuming you are using v9.X or higher yes you can animate this directly in a pose slider. The actual method varies a little from version to version, (meaning if you let me know the version of A:M I can be more specific

yes, i replied to ur topic on the hash forums, but here it is:
Yes, create a new on/off (how suitable!!! lol) pose and in the on state set the light´s intensity to 100 or whatever the max will be. Now in the normal model set the light to 0. Now in the chor, open the poseslider window and when you click on, it´ll turn…ON. I hope this helps. Comment if it doesn´t work, i´ll be here for awhile.
Thanks for the replies.
Obnomauk, actually I’m using v11.1 What kind of differences are you talking about?
Pancho simpson, I created a On/Off pose and switched On and Off the bonelight for every state of the pose. It seems to work fine.
The differences primarily lie in what properties are visible and where they are best accessed from. The fundamental technique is the same (more or less).
- create a relationship of some sort (in this case a pose slider)
- set the property that drives the relationship to a value that you want to act as a trigger (ie set the pose slider to 100%)
- change the properties you wish to be effected by the control to the values you want them to have at the trigger point (ie set the light intensity to 100%)
you can then tweak the relationship to your hearts content
some things that I find useful are: tying a set of lights to a switch this allows me to toggle lights for different shots all in the same chor, I use a null as the trigger and translate it to the camera, I can then change light rigs based on the position of the camera in the chor. I also set the channels of lights so that I can smoothly transition from one set of lights to the other (ie no hot spots or under-lit frames)
It’s chock full of relationshippy goodness
