awesome idea, but you are not making it easy
i like it, i’ll do it
Simulation?
Hmm…maybe something to do with nature?
Like some sea action, volcanic eruption?
Although I did not partake in the previous challenge, I have learned how to disintegrate realistically. I learned from it.
The collapsing effect I would have no clue how to do, but I like the idea a lot. It’s always nice to see something fall apart with gravity in a demo reel… I would certainly love to see it done and to learn a few things about it.
Collapse Sweeet!.
Thats sound good ![]()
Maybe could be two categories, “Natural disaster” and “explosions”, in both you must collapse an infrastructure or something.
if you choose “Natural Disaster”, you must work more on Rigid Bodies Dynamics, on the other way if you choose “explosions” you must improve particles and fluids effects…
In both you can use (or must) particles, fluids, rigid bodies, soft bodies…
oh men hope to got some time for this :wise:

What?
Natural disasters again?
We did the big freeze, and the volcano. We had car crashes already. We did the extremely redundant Dracula AND Frankenstein.
The list Roberto posted earlier (dunno where it is to be found now) contained two gold nuggeds, both of which I’d love to do:
One was “Your city 100 years ago” another was “Your city in the future”.
Both ideas could be boiled down to “A city from different time” challenge, and where you could both do it as a live-action comping excercise (add a monorail and hovercars for future, or steam engine and paint out the new bank building for past) or as a full-on “make a city from scratch” challenge.
Wouldn’t need to be a long scene, just “make (at least) one shot establishing a city from another time”. Could be as simply as a cheezy zoom into a matte painting!
THAT is a challenge I’d love to try!!

Hello, this is the first time I post on the fxwars thread. You guys are amazing. I saw all the animation form the previous challenge. As I don’t havetime now to work for the new subject, I can come with some ideas. I have been always amazed by slow motion scnees in the movie where you can see some objects hiting something, cutting. These are type of actions we usualy cannot see so clear in real life because of speed, dimensions and so on. So my idea is this: What about a challange showing some effects in a microcosmos. For example, when you put your foot on a dirty and dusty place, there is a lot of dust floating, alot of dirt and mud jumping around the footh, maybe soome small stones. For a bug, tht will likea huge explsion ora dust storm. Another example is this:: a water drop falling down on a leaf and splashing (I hope thisis the word). these are a few examples for what I call “micro unvivers”, except molecules, atoms and other stuffs like this.
Ok guys, my inspiration moment in this morning is almost over so I have to go back to work.
see you soon.![]()
Hey Zap. Your points are valid.
“Your city 100 years ago” wil be a challenge we will do soon. (Promtly followed by
"Your city in the future", before someone steals the idea.
For both mini challenges I wanted to create a mini stock footgae library of cities in the east coast of the US (Phili, DC & New York) and provided to the group.
Ok and for the next challenge WILL BE collapse. Ill start drawing up the rules soon.
For this one the simulation will be the key.
We will revisit Natural desasters soon, but it will be one we have not done before.

awesome. i started working on a simulation for collapsing those old eastern-european style apartment buildings.
The new challenge thread will go live as soon as I finish writing the rules…

i’ve wanted to enter a mini challenge for a while now and collapse sounds awesome as a theme…think i might enter this one
Maybe this one.

Woo, could someone share the ideas of wht’s going on here?
Are we gonna work with a team? If so, I would like to join a team if someone wants me
I can write my capabilities here but first I’m just trying to understand what happened, could someone help me please? I’m new!!!
