Leopard & EIM

I tested out EIM with Leopard yesterday, and on my machine there are significant redraw issues. Similar to what happened in early Tiger releases. But it makes EIM useless under Leopard for me.

Maybe it’s an nVidea driver issue… my ATI Radeon x1900 displays fine.

I don’t think so, it happens on my X800 as well

Question is is EITG going to issue a patch to fix the existing versions or is the solution going to be to buy the next version?

Funny you should mention modeler, I recall that the Universe4 version of modeler has a tool tips bug that would randomly crash it. Rather then fix it the management at ei first denied that the problem was widespread. Then rather then fixing it they just rolled an option (turn off tool tips) into the Version 5 update.
People who had paid for a working V 4 modeler were left with a couple options; either tolerate the random crashes, or pay again for a “fixed” version (or run it under OS9 where apparently the bug did not manifest it’s self in the same way, not really an option because if you hung modeler (quite easy, particularly in those days) it locked the entire OS9 system forcing a restart thus killing every app you had running)

It would be interesting to know if other OpenGL-based apps running on Rosetta are having these problems, too. If so, it could be another Leopard bug which could get solved with a 10.5.1 patch. Apple ought to be told about this via their feedback page.

I would say no, kinda like Adobe… they arent supporting any version except CS3…

CS3 IS their current version, not something they just started taking “pre-orders” on
(as I recall CS3 started shipping last spring)

I hope so, (that 5.1 will fix the ogl problems EI has running in leopard)
I have only tried a handful of (ogl based) apps (haven’t had much time to experiment) but the ones I tried seemed to be fine, at least at a cursory level.

My apologies… I misread the original post

My coments were about EIAS not about EIM (I just started using a new RSS reader so all the old posts came up again and I looked at the first post again…)

6.5 (and I assume 6.6) is horribly broken. EITG should fix that.

Particularly since v4 seems to work fine. It was likely some stupid ogl speed trick they did in 6.0 or 6.5 that is causing the problem.

I have run EIM a couple times (I don’t use it often) and it seems to be ok in Leopard.

Again My bad, sorry misread EIM to mean ElectricImage (meaning the animator)
