A bit of feedback in reverse order
@amitlighting I really like your scene expecially the grass idea, it gives a strange feeling to the whole image, if possible, as I always say you should contrast a bit more the image. Also why don’t you try a night version ?

@khachik1993, really funny I remember that tilt shift was the ā€œlens flareā€ of last year. I like the atmosphere and also the contrasted colors in the image. (the red hydrant is very cool it would deserve its own small animation

@FeD I like the night atmosphere even if I would go for a more dark take (probably my video is not calibrated but there is quite too much illumination, in the last image the sky it’s a bit too ulluminated for being ā€œnightā€?). Really lovely take

@funkyboy-fr Hello !I’ve downloaded the animation and it’s very cool. What I like about your image is the contrast among colors. I know probably I ask too much but will it be possible to create volumetrics ? Something like a night scene with fog. I have no idea if it’s technically possible but it will be cool

@Amit, I like the rainy version, I will add a bit of specularity to make it a bit more ā€œwetā€ (in the part near the camera) Also there are some kind of ā€œspotā€ on the pavement that probably are correct but are a bit too distracting. it’s really a great image, pls share more

@richgkim49 Great take on the scene. It seems coming straight from an AAA title. If you have time, can you test a shot with a wet street in order to make it more reflective ?, can you also post your setup for lighting ?

@hgagne Keep going and share more pls, I would make the image a bit more contrasted and also change a bit the camera angle. (too central now probably)

@Haruna I really like the color you used. I don’t understand if on the righe there is a lens flare on the shop window or it’s just the reflection. In the last hypothesis I would lower it a bit. Great image !

@Ahqi, that’s really a creative take on the scene. Technically I found a bit too distracting the intensity of the lamps and also I will lower a bit the bump/displacement/normals of the street. Can you share your setup ?

@Sasorithered The overall toning make it quite an interesting image, but I will try to create a more ā€œfocusedā€ image. Not in the technical aspect, I mean, now the eye of the viewer has too maany light point to watch for and so the effect is a bit distracting (especially the cloud near the clock tower) Also the street is a bit too light while with a darker shader/color the viewer would be more interested in the lights/sparks coming from the pumpkins (which are very good indeed)

@Fedja Kilibarda I like the clock tower so illuminated it in some way balance the overall composition of the image. I find the color of the lamp of a strange yellow (the one in the front of the image) . Why don’t you try a version also with dimmer light (probably adding more decay to the source will make the trick). Also why don’t you try with different color grading (on the final render) to see more version of your take ?

@metafus the shaders are very cool, I will just change the followind. The light source are not Identifiable and so it seems a bit of why there is so much light on the right of the image. I will dim a bit them in order to make the overall image more ā€œsoftā€ (even if I like very the sharpness of the image). Why don’t you try to put some stars on the sky (just a few one don’t overdue

@felixschuett Pls post updates :wink:

@cgx… I think I won’t sleep tonight (the google dream image) but I guess we are near the singularity

@pamulighter a huge thanks for sharing the breakdown !! so cool ! Since you have a bit more time, why don’t you try also a take during daylight ?

@cgx for the ā€œcar imageā€. Pls post a textured version and by the way isn’t the sun just a giant spotlight ???

And merry XMAS to all !! Thanks for sharing such a great entries !! I hope to see you soon for a very cool (and a bit difficult) challenge next year !!

Hi! It’s a pleasure to work on this scene. For this first take, I’ve worked on the sun light. The flare effect was created with two volumetric lights in arnold.

I used maya 2014 and mtoa.

1st take

Light rig

For the next version, I’ll start to work on the sky light and a little bit on the shaders and some volumetrics to create a little bit the atmosphere and the depth of the scene.

All kind of feedback are welcome.

Cheers!

hi jojo1975,

@Ahqi, that’s really a creative take on the scene. Technically I found a bit too distracting the intensity of the lamps and also I will lower a bit the bump/displacement/normals of the street. Can you share your setup ?

  • the lamp glint ? the street i remodel and texture it, thinking to give more details on those rocks :D. thxs for your input ~

gerardo : woow cool man : i love the ambient & framing

#135

Thanks Andry!

Getting a realistic contrast ratio between the moonlight and artificial light sources is commonly tricky and relevant for the overall final look …seems by the raw render you are on the right track there, I think.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Gerardo

Thanks gerardo :),

Hi all! That is my version of Pippers Alley. All kind of feedback is welcome! I used Arnold with Maya and Nuke for the comp.
