Lauras Face and Body

Try this in your signature:

This should get the link to show up properly. I don’t use Firefox, so you’ll have to check it out on your machine. If you’ve already tried this, then I have no idea what’s going on :scream:

Edit: I see that the link was automatically condensed. It’s

[u r l=http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=3808038/]Laura[/u r l] with the spaces removed from the “u r l” on each end.

Hi… really, really nice model. Currently working on a head myself… Could you show a wire of the hair? or maybe the tutorial on how you did it? Just wondering :stuck_out_tongue:
Looking really good.

oberon :
when i click on your provided link then it does the same …it says i have to choose a forum.
but i will try to change the link as you mentioned. unfortunately i know nothing about that
internet stuff. very bad i know…less then a beginner :frowning:
i was just wondering how you can make a short cut from a long boring link
thondal :
don’t take the hair serious, i did if for fun. when you have a close look you can see that i’ve bended some tubes around Lauras head. well it is not a good solution, it looks full and rich till i put the transparent map on. the you can see the empty tube and all is gone. you might scroll back to this thread, there is a picture from Laura with real fully long hair and this is made with shag hair .

Your link has an extra “8” at the end that’s why it’s not working!

Your model’s great. Chunky hair but it looks kinda cool. There’s a wierd line around her neck though, is that a seam?

Nice work, watching for updates.

pap87 :

somebody ( you ? ) told me how to make that short cut link. i forgot to highlight the text Laura before i’ve pasted the link. think it is working now …thank you very much

Picture :
yes it is a seam around the neck and all over the body. the hole thing is’nt welded yet.
i don’t like the symetry tool in max for that kind of work.

just smal updates. unfortunately i am having not enough time right now. i am also waiting
for mudbox ( lucky i am in the beta ) to work out more details. next i have to decide how to cut the mesh for texturing. i am not good in texturing. but anyway…just to post something here.
don’t want that the thread get closed because i do nothing

BEAUTIFUl work…

Im curious as to if you could post your wires in the ortho graphic views. i’m trying to model a realistic female and gather all the topology references I can muster… It would be an amazing help…

Thank you in advance

#25

Kyle: to show the wires from Laura wouldn’t be a good reference for you. reason : as you’ve might seen, i am doing cloth stuff with here. i did some specially edge loops on certain body parts like hips , belly , forearms, neck etc. that i think it could be helpfully for later cloth work. as i’ve said…i think…i am not sure yet. i don’t want to hand on my weird ideas without testing it. think there are very good topology ( Steven Stahlberg ) threads here at cg talk, where you can be sure they are state of the art.

thanks for your nice comment.

Georges,

Can you explain how you begin to sculpt the hair, and how you go about it? I really like the gestural feel of solid Poly hair, but whenever I try to sculpt it, it always becomes a mess. Is it high density mesh? do you just extrude chunks of hair off?? What do you suggest to start understanding this technique?

THanks!
Mike

Hi Mike ,

i do not understand clearly your question. the hair is simply polymodelling, same tech. as the other stuff. i also like to solid polygone body for a full mop of hair. but please note, it looks might cool for cartoony renderes as this one. son as you’re going to use transmaps, the effect of the full and rich haircut is gone. the reason is simple…hence the hole thing is a 3dbody it is easy to see that the geometry is empty. guess i left a test picture of full rich hair done with shag hair somewhere in this thread. there the geometry has been the starting point to make the hair you can see on that picture. you might scroll back if you want to see it. don’t know if this helps…otherwise you might show the mess you’re talking about. i am sure there is a solution around

just preparing the model for texturing. i did some try out’s with peltmapping in max. in some how i am not very happy with the result for that kind of work. that’s why i’ve parted the model with different mat. id’s . pelt mapping gave me a kind of “cowskin” template. hence i am a very bad texture painter i must try to keep the uv mesh close as possible to the shape of the model.you might have other/better ways of doing it. so will try like that for now.

Hi Georges,

The model looks great… There’s a lot of improvement on the face… Would love to see more progress especially with clothes on… I’m sure it’ll turn out great… It’s a shame that I didnt work on my model…

Cheers,
Edmund Wong

Edmund : don’t make it to hard for your self. open up the file every day for five minutes try here and there with no pressure and the rocks are rollling again. i have to be happy with very little steps but i am. yes i like the face now. thanks Edmund…just stay in touch.

Wow, nice modeling!
Love the beauty of the face! The calfs are a bit to thick IMHO tho, other then that, this is great work…
Keep us updated!

#32

thanks Michael

your’e right about the calves. i think in general she is very very sportive  to me it is easyer
to smooth this spots with some morph targes later as to add on muscualrity. seemed to be that i have a better overview like that.

well done ! like the face mimic!

here aer few issue in my opinion that request attention:

the thumb on the foot is too small and the overall fingers relative the foot are small

the knee should be a bit longer in front

collar bones need more work, the neck nees more work and the armpit hole need more work
try to use more photo references for those

waiting for yuor updates!
keep it up!

p.s. do not be lasy like me!

#34

i love her hair model on the first picture… really nice

#35

Just curious, did u model the pose or u rig it? And I see the skeleton inside her body too in earlier post. Did you also model the skeleton too?
And in my opinion, her thigh muscle need a bit definition, for me it’s a bit flat considering she’s sporty, especially her vastus medialis and lateralis. And I think there’s something weird with the muscle around her armpit. I really love the achiles tendon that you put in that pose. Cool! Cant wait to see the finish model.
