Laura Diehl's WIP Thread

#401

Hello, Laura.

I’m really enjoying how this is developing. It caught my attention immediately. I look forward to seeing what decisions you make and what final form this takes.

Took a little break from this to go shopping today. Of course nobody had the computer speakers I wanted to try out. But it was good to get out of the house

eishiya: I like my starry sky pouts …actually my justification is that the brightness of the stars gives me more of a cold “northern” feeling though I’m not sure quite why that is.

tatiana: By “the rock side” you mean the bottom right, right? As for the paws, I’m honestly not sure what more I can do for them. The way (the front) paws are posed the webbing is kind of compressed, not stretched out. Funny that the first reference on your list is one I found independently and have been consulting quite a lot. I think you have a point on the nebula thing and the bounced light. Thanks!

Cris-Palomino: I’m glad you like it

#403

I think the stars are fine, you can make the rocks more rocky in texture to balance out the level of overall detail. This is a very lovely piece

#404

Very nice work the last piece! It one of you best I believe!
I have to agree about the stars nebula and the texture ofthe snow-rocks! I can’t wait to see it completed!

#405

I tweaked a number of small things. The nebula is gone. The colugo’s anatomy has been worked on to be more in line with the real thing -I couldn’t resist adding the fur to his ear though I’m not sure why I did it. And the rocks have been updated a bit. Oh, also tried to do something about the bounced light issue.

frostblade: I did end up adding another level of “detail” to the rocks. I don’t know how noticeable it will be to you. A lot of my painstaking detail was covered up by the snow when it was added.

Conkrys: I’m happy you think so. Almost there!

#406

I’m all but ready to save the final file and call this done. Do any of you have suggestions for a title? I was thinking “By the Stars” … but I’d be open to others  Also, any last minute problems (or “good to go” s  ) would be great, as I plan to revisit this one last time later this afternoon.

#407

I love it. Totally.
Looking forward for updates.

#408

I really like what you’ve done - excellent progress! And I do love the little tufts of hair on the ears. Now, of course, I want to find and buy me a lantern just like the one you’ve painted…

Actually, I really do want that lamp.

Just wanted to post a quickie I did for Daily Sketch. The topic: “Self-Portrait as a Vampire.” About 2 hours in Photoshop.

#411

i love the previous piece. great concept and well executed too. :applause:

the recent one is nice. so she was embraced at 12? i thought that was forbidden. just look what they did to claudia… and she was my favorite psychotic child vamp.

#412

Really a beautiful sketch !

But… is there a female-vampire invasion? Please, I need also a male sex-attractor devilish vampire, PLEASE !

#413

Salubri3i: Regarding the “By the Stars” pic: Thanks! About the vampire pic: I really am not sure what you’re talking about…

CyborgJA: Oh I prefer hot male vampires too. But alas this was a self-portrait. Maybe someday.

Here are the initial thumbnails for my next project. I’m currently awaiting the authors preferences. You’re welcome to share your preferences too, of course.

#414

Absolutely number 1 for composition, image’s depth and use of diagonals.

See you soon,
Serena*

*waiting for the male vampire

#415

oops. so sorry. i guess i was babbling too much about anne rice’s vampire chronicles. claudia(kirsten dunst) is a child that was turned into a vampire by the lonely loui(brad pitt) and lestat(tom cruise). later on the vampires in paris left her baking in the sun. :frowning:

of the sketches, i choose #4, great possibilities with the mood there… tense moments leading up to a confrontation with the hooded figure.

love your work.

#416

Cool sketches, Laura. I like number 4 most. It got a cool mood and mystery there, and not too much action (since there’s already so many characters). What’s the story about, if we may know?

#417

wonderfull
i lovely the vampire
The color nice always
Sketches i liked 5 and 7…impact for my vision

#418

Still awaiting word from the author.

CyborgJA: I’m a fan of that one too, along with the one below it.

Salubri3i: Hah. Well that would explain why I didn’t understand, I’ve never read a vampire novel in my life  I prefer to stick to sunlit fantasy books. Yes #4 got the mood thing going.

Pegahoul: Another #4 vote hmmmm? Can’t say just yet on the plot -I will divulge some when a thumbnail is picked and I start on the sketch.

Gisaiagami: I am curious. What attracts you about #5?

#419

the focus in mage and clock
I found expressivo :thumbsup::love:

#420

Hmmm tough call, but I like sketch #4. Can’t wait to see some color
